Lightbulb Custom Track - Mirror Room question

Hey hello Mariokartwii people,

I've been working on a custom track, and I got some ideas for it. One of those I'd like to know, is it possible to make a full functional mirror (like in Super Mario 64 mirror room)?? If so, how can you make that??

I don't think it's really possible to make real mirrors in MKW, at least not right now (there aren't any Wii games which I can think of that have those).
You can make a fake mirror either by using a transparent model with a mirrored version of the track on the other side (the characters won't show up but you can even put objects there) or you can use a spheremapped mirror texture on a model (works for small mirrors, but you'd need some model exporter that supports spheremapping)

Yeah, that's this small issue though, I want to act it like a mirror. xD
Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait until some smart person comes by and found out how.

After a while I have been thinking some more about this, when I had that screen in GCN Waluigi Stadium in mind, I thought: Would it be possible to "rotate" that camera angle on that screen so that you see the front of your character on it...?? As soon as I noticed, it can't because the camera keeps following the player's position, so the screen basically "moves" then if it was possible. :')

But, yeah, thanks for trying to help me, I guess. xD

And what's about the transformation matrices, that each MDL has?

I have never tested it, but it could work: Edit each MDL0 section 1 (Bones), negate the x-scale and recalculate the matrices (transformation and inverse). The only problem may be, that the triangles have now the wrong culling and 2 of the triangles vertices must be swapped.

I'm a beginner at creating custom tracks, I just know how to change some animations from characters, so I don't know much.

Well, N64 Sherbet Land can mirror too because the symmetric polygons and the little transparence of the floor.

It doesn't need to be a wall or something. You can just remake the concept, but maybe there are easier ways.

Oh yeah, about this "special" floor, do I have to make this in Google SketchUp?? If so or if not, how do I have to add this special floor and add the reflection in it?? Do I have to rotate the floor so it acts like a wall?? I'd like to get help with this, I've never seen this before though, but I'm very sure it's possible.

I wish I wasn't a rookie, but I want to learn a lot about these. :)

You know that N64 SL has a mirrored version of itself under it to make that effect? Same for the penguins.
