According to translations provided by members of NeoGAF, other modes listed by Namco Bandai include a single-player Grand Prix mode, two-player Co-op, "Clone Battle" mode and a competitive mode, which will support up to four players.
It features Gliding and Under Water Driving from MK7, what seems to be double dash mechanics (according to the translation), and the same picture taking mechanic from other GP games, the courses look detailed. As of now, this is only coming to Japan. Once we here more news, it will probably have to do something with America, Europe, and Australia.
The MK arcades have always been sort of intriguing to me, not so much in an "I want to seek them out and play them" way, but in more of a "I'm surprised they exist" way. They're somewhat of an oddity in my eyes, in that they seem more like an unauthorized knockoff than an official Nintendo product. It's even stranger when you see Pac Man in there (speaking of which, is he still in this one?)
This is too awesome. Double Karts just like Double Dash, gliding and underwater just like MK7, why do we only have a Japan release date, and why does this have to be arcade only?!
They'd better think about some sort of retro courses-system for the next console Mario Kart to include courses from this series, they're just too exclusive to come by. Otherwise, I'd consider remake some them my self for Mario Kart Wii.
Let's hope this is a reflection of what's to come with the next Mario Kart!
