Any Unofficial software has the potential to brick your equipment, although throughout the course of my use of the Homebrew Channel it has not affected the Wii in the slightest.

No, nobody has ever been bricked from it. But for the next Wii update, don't update until you get a confirmation from the creators of the HBC that it's safe.

It won't brick your Wii, but it's recommended not to have the Nintendo Channel if you have the Homebrew Channel. Nintendo will use the Nintendo Channel to see what you have been playing on your Wii message board and could possibly ban you from online features if they find the Homebrew Channel.
