Mario games are nearly always excellent. They're accessible for non-experienced players, and have enough depth to keep more advanced players busy.

Mario was one of the first games of its kind. It broke so many barriers in the beginning. It made us people who are old now fall in love with video games at such a young age. We continued to play (Most of us still do) and we passed that down to our younger brothers and sisters while nintendo kept pumping out the series. This just started a chain reaction and that is what helped make the series so successful.
