Story:
From the creators of Chibi Robo comes an all new Wii game. Captain Rainbow is the yo-yo wielding star of a popular children's action TV show, but when another more popular hero comes along, ratings go down. Nick, who plays Captain Rainbow, travels to Minmin Island, where wishes are said to come true. However, when he gets there, he discovers that many other people (specifically forgotten Nintendo mascots such as Little Mac and Birdo) have come to the island to get their wishes granted.
Gameplay:
The game has a variety of game types, including adventure gameplay and mi****mes. You can talk to the islanders and help them fulfill their dreams, or just explore. For helping out the villagers, you can obtain crystals known as Kirarin. Once you get enough of these, a star will fall from the sky. You must take it back from a mysterious shadow monster and get it to the island's shrine before it. Once you get it there, you have a choice. Return your popularity or help the villagers?

Nick: A regular guy who happens to be a TV star.
Captain Rainbow: A super hero who uses his yo-yos to defeat his enemies.
Birdo: A man/woman from Super Mario Bros. 2. She wishes to be popular, but she was locked up.
Little Mac: The boxer you played as in Punch-Out. He wishes to be a boxing champion again.
Takamaru: A great warrior from Nazo no Murasamejō, however he's become too "hyper" over the years.
Tao: The dog from the game Chibi-Robo, who wants all of the dog bones in the world.
Devil: The devil from the game Devil World. He wants to become top dog in Hell.
Tracy: "Crazy" Tracy from Zelda: Link's Awakening wants to enslave all men in the world.
Soliders: The soliders from Famicom Wars want to become excellent Volleyball players.
Otsu: The Mario imitation from the NES game Golf. He wants to improve his swing.
Hikari: From Shin O****shima.
Mappo: From GiFTPiA.

This game is going to be awesome. But everybody hates it.
