I graduated high school in June 2010, and since then i haven't gone to college or anything. I've been working for the same company for almost 4 years now, and i like it, i just don't know if i really want to do it for the rest of my life. But honestly i really don't know what i want to do at all. Everyone keeps telling me to go to college, but i don't know what for. The only thing i REALLY enjoy is something in the entertainment industry; weither it's singing, dancing, acting.... something like that. I'm thinking of going to school just so i can get a degree, and then maybe doing an internship in a place like california, florida, or vegas because that kind of stuff is more present there than where i live. But i don't know if it's a waste of my time/money... should i just go for my dreams or get a degree and plan it out and then if i never get my "big break" at least i have a degree....? Or i could just not to go college, but then i'd be stuck doing the same thing i've been doing for 4 years. I need some advice!!! :(
There are very few opportunities in those industries to make it big like the celebrities do, odds are unless you're extremely talented (I mean like, very very talented) or you know people who are big in that industry you're never going to get to that level. Most actors who aren't extremely famous or are small time actors/singers usually get paid very little. The unemployment rate is also much higher for people with less than a high school degree/ only a high school degree, by comparison, the unemployment rate for people with degrees, Bachelors, PHDs are much lower. So it's wiser to have something to fall back on in case pursuing that goal doesn't go well, so it's wiser to go to college (particularly since, that opportunity won't be around forever in your life).
Boy, you seem to be in a sticky situation. Following your dreams is something you always need to do, even if it seems impossible. As long as you are determined, you can do anything. You should have a backup plan though, and especially a side job that pays well while still giving you enough time to chase your dream. In other words, yes, go to college and get a degree, but try to work out enough time to improve your singing/dancing/acting/whatever. Entertainment is indeed a very high goal, but it isn't something that can't be done. Good luck with your dream. :)
Do what you really want to do.
"If you love your job, you never work a day in your life"
If you say you love singing, dancing, and acting, go for it! Go to college and take some classes in those. Of course, if you don't get a big job in acting, singing, etc, don't worry! Many people have started from a little job, and then get promoted to a higher rank in their job, making them more popular/making more money.
If you really think you could make a decent career, go for it. If you don't ever try you won't know what youer capable of.
Hope this helped, and good luck!
Well seems like you've decided, but if you're into entertainment and don't have a college degree, maybe you could start making YouTube videos. You'd probably enjoy it, and maybe you could get a partnership if you worked hard at it.

I have to screen posts before they appear to the public, so posting once is sufficient enough.
