Default A question about M*Xnovak07's texture pack. PLEASE ANSWER QUICKLY

I have a question about the .RAR file that is in the video description of Xnovak07's texture pack video vvvv

I don't know why it's there or why it is part of installing the textures. I downloaded it anyway, but when I tried to see if there were .szs files in there but it said something like "Windows cannot open the file" or something like that. Anyways, what is this file and where do I put it?

just download the .zip and extract it into the my stuff folder -- or you can just get winrar and extract the .rar with that.

A .rar file cannot be opened normally unless you have a program that opens them. The textures are stuffed in that .rar file. You extract everything and put it in your My Stuff folder once it's opened.

I hope that was clear enough.

For Windows, you might be interested in using 7-Zip opposed to WinRAR for decompressing .rar files.

A .rar file can be opened through the use of WinRAR, google that and download it. Extract Eirik's pack by right-clicking, and extract it.

To open the .szs files, download the editors in Chadderz website, google it.
You're looking for SZS Modifer, or SZS Explorer. Either one would work.

You need to decompress the archive and then put all the files into your "My Stuff" folder.

Make sure there are no additional top directories, though, as the file isn't set to deep search.

Works:
X:\path\to\my\stuff\My Stuff\example_file.szs

Does not work:
X:\path\to\my\stuff\My Stuff\Textures\example_file.szs

As I suggested earlier, 7-Zip is a far better alternative (as well as being complete open-source freeware compared to commercial "annoy" software that requires being activated.

So all I do is just extract both files to "My Stuff". No renaming required? Does it matter if I just save it to "My Stuff" or do I have to extract?
