Default BDL Editor V 0.00.01 (BETA) Released!

The BDL Edior

I am proud to announce the first BETA release of the BDL Editor!

This BETA version is simply called "The BMD to BDL Converter".

This is a simple program that allows you to use Super Mario Sunshine's (And a few others) 3D Models in Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2.

Since this is a BETA version, it cannot perform it's main function of converting a 3DS model to BDL.

What this program simply does is it converts the BMD Model format in BDL.

BMD Models have been used in games like Mario Kart Double Dash, Luigi's Mansion, And Super Mario Sunshine.

V 0.00.02 (BETA) Will include the feature to Convert BDL to BMD, so the use of Super Mario Galaxy models can be used in Mario Kart Double Dash.

V 1.00.00 will include the feature to convert 3DS to BMD, so custom Mario Kart Double Dash Models are now possible.

With that, you can convert the custom BMD models to BDL for use in Super Mario Galaxy.

Use

First Download the bmd2bdl.exe here: Download

Re-name your BMD model "In.bmd", and put it in the same folder as "Temp.bdl" and "bmd2bdl.exe".

Launch bmd2bdl.exe.

Now locate Out.bdl, and that's you BMD model converted to BDL.

Q & A

Q: What does this have to do with Mario Kart Hacking?
A: It allows you to use Mario Kart Double Dash's Model format, and convert it to BDL for SMG 1 & 2.

Q: How can this be used to hack Mario Kart?
A: It can't yet. Although the next release will feature the ability to use Super Mario Galaxy, DK Jungle Beat, and The Legend Of Zelda Windwaker models in Mario Kart Double Dash. The second release after this one will feature 100% custom models for Super Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart Double Dash, Super Mario Galaxy, and any other game that uses the BMD/BDL Model format. We already know how to convert 3DS to BMD (Kinda), as we have done this with a Hex Edior, but we need to write a promgram that can do that instead.

Q: Who made this program?
A: Somebody named Blank. He programed the programmed, with the help of me (SuperMario64DS) and MarioNumber1 from the Super Mario Galaxy 2.5 project. Many of our findings and help made this program. Later additions of this program will include help from me and MarioNumber1 auctually programming stuff instead of providing info.

Q: Will this program have support for other model formats?
A: Maybe, NSBMD used in Mario Kart DS is considered, as it is like the BMD Model format, and contains MDL0 Data. So this may mean custom Mario Kart DS Models as well.

This is something great.

For Super Mario fans, Places like Delfino Plaza can now exist is Super Mario Galaxy.

For Zelda fans, this version can allow you to put The Legend Twilight Princess levels in the Legend Of Zelda Windwaker.

Th next version will allow you to reverse this, and put Super Mario Galaxy Levels in Super Mario Sunshine, or Windwaker Levels in Twilight princess.

ANY game that uses BMD or BDL models format can now be interchangable.

We did agree that custom NSBMD models would be great, but should be added after the program works properly.

In V 1 you can:

Convert BMD to BDL
Convert 3DS to BDL
Convert 3DS to BMD
Convert BDL to BMD

If we do decide to add NSBMD, then we can add that to the equation.

The next program we're considering on making is called the "KCL Modifier", which we plan to have the ability to:

Edit SMG, MKWii, and MKDS collison.

Since it will be a SMG 1 & 2 Tool, SMG Collison will be first, but we have yet to discover all of the KCL Flags.

And then a feature I suggested would be to infantly expand the KCLs vertex space, so we will not have any more Size issues with MKWii KCLs, and so SMG and other games can have custom Collision.

Oh, thanks.

We worked very hard on this, amd we're glad people like it.

We still would like more programmers for this, we could get a lot more done.

And as I said, SMG 1 & 2 models have been long awaited, so anybody who helps will get credit.

This will be the offical thread for the BDL Edior until V1 is released.

This doesn't directly affect that, unfortunately.

The Paratroopa won't work just because we can't fully hack animations yet.

So, if I understood this correctly, this thing either can or will soon have the ability to make custom SMG2 levels? Or just convert them to an editable file type?
