I should warn you that because you have less options on auto to minimize your time, 1-2 blue shells can ruin the entire run. That's what I meant when I stated that auto requires less skill/timing/effort but that you can "keep trying till you get it". This is more evident in the later cups, where manual's mini-turbo and better turning starts to matter more.

Other than that though, auto requires very little effort, so from a neutral perspective, it is simply a trade-off. You might spend more TIME getting triple star on automatic, but you definitely won't spend as much EFFORT.
