I haven't managed to do the boost pad thing. I think it will be possible but it will be hard to time. On that video; I have avoided two blue shells using the blue jump ramps. The first was on Rainbow Road on the jump after the star cannon and the other day one came for me on the first temple corner of Dry Dry Ruins but it missed as I came down from the jump.
