I have a friend registered, and we get on and go in a room together, but can't seem to figure out how to start a race. When I press "A" it goes to chat options, and when I press anything else it promps me to leave the room. I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but couldn't find it in manual or figure it out.

There should be a button that says chat, and another that says start race if you're both in the race

Yeah, I didn't get it for a bit the first time I hosted a room. But you click the close room box on the left.

Do you have to host the room to start the race? I still can' t find any "race" btn.

Go to the option that says CLOSE.

the host (and only the host) has a start game button. hit this and select what you are playing (all these instructions apply to the host only)
