I think my post got deleted here for some weird reason, anyways good job mate. Taught me a lot about mini-turbo'ing a lot more, I usually rely on wheelies 60% and turbo the other 40%. Not to mention those mini-turbo's probably helped you achieve 3-stars in the last youtube cup you posted. You hit like 6 cones and fell off on the last track, if it were me, I would have gotten 1 star, maybe 2 despite my first places in all the races. This definitely helped me understand a few things to improve on.
Good usage of wheelies + mini turbos really is key. Great job on the vid, btw, should help a lot of the people asking for help. I've had races where I've fallen off the track once or twice AND come in second on one race and still gotten 2 stars, all because of the mini turbos and wheelies. I usually use either Daisy/Mach Bike or Funky/Flame Runner for single player stuff like this, but same results. Really, the best thing you can do for it is watch the record holders for specific tracks and practice general skills (like taking the inside line all the time - this skill applies more or less pretty equally across all tracks). Next couple days I think I'm going to try for the 3 star ranking - the only thing that will be difficult for me is Mirror (I already have like 6 of the 150cc 3-star, but the Mirror tracks give me trouble quite often).
As a side note, I saw a thread last week some time where someone posted a point system for determining star ranking with actual numbers, not just "do this and don't do this." One of the thing was you get +X number of points (don't remember exact number) for every wheelie - I was wondering if you could exploit that to rack up points but just popping/dropping your wheelie repeatedly. Sure, you would lose speed, but that would be a lot more wheelies. At any rate, I am not going to test it - I don't have the time to test it nor the need for it to attain the ranking.
