I also use a shroom before the very first glider panel in section 2, it makes you go way faster on the same principle as the shroom on DKJ rKTB and NBC. I'm getting 36.3-.5 section 2 runs using this strat, though I feel it has a cap on how fast you can go with it because in my more recent runs I'm very close to hitting the chomp blocking the best line at the very end of sector 2.

I could still do with lots of help on time trial mushrooms and a few more tips to be added, particularly some I am missing on new red monster strats, for example on Koopa Cape and Alpine Pass.
For rKTB, use the shroom just as you reach the tip of the little sand ramp, and don't trick off the glider pad. You'll carry the boost from the shroom to the glider.
And you definitely do get a glider boost over the mossy rock if you do it right, try to fly close and over the tallest part of the rock.
NBC shroom strat:
Lap 1&2: Shroom as you go over the final glider panel, tilt upwards and go over the Bowser sign, landing at the first turn.
Lap 3: Use for the small mud shortcut after the first turn.
i find going inside of the tube faster simply bcuz i don't lose 2-10 seconds hitting one of the things on top of the tube or getting stuck on top of one...
