I've seen many people (mostly noobs) say that Gold tires and Slick tires are virtually the same because of the Speed Increase and Handling Decrease. But, other than that, there are actually many differences between the Slick and the Gold Tires. Here are a few
Stat Differences
Here are that stat differences between Slick and Gold
Another major difference comes when you use certain kart bodies. In order to get the fastest possible combo with 3.75 acceleration, you're stuck with the Slick wheels, and the following combo inputs...
Now, in the long run, you're better off with the Slicks, especially since they don't hamper the air handling stat at all. Sure they're going to hinder sea handling, but it's not like that stat is THAT important.
As for the Gold Tires, just go Red Monster instead, as they hinder the same amount of acceleration as the Gold Tires, but are way more off-road friendly.
Slick: Randomly Unlocked between 50 and 4500 coins.
Gold: Obtain a minimum of a one star ranking in all cups of every engine class, or collect 15000 coins.

Slick takes up more. Minor Difference
Thank you for viewing this thread. Now you know the differences :3

yeah, you have to use parasol or flower glider for proper movement with gold wheels.
You only really need a minimum of 1.75 air handling to have decent air controls. Of course, with enough effort, you can pull off most glider shortcuts with just 0.75-1.5 air handling.

I think it'd be better to have precision when taking glider cuts than to barely pull it off and possibly mess up in the process.
