It's how many clans the World Clan League has thrown overboard, either dead, withdrawn, or disqualified. This season, which ended this prior Sunday, was full of one thing for many players: forfeits. Clans folded and were disqualified in droves. By the time division 5 was over, only three clans remained, and only two would make it to next season. Three clans in division 15 had folded, and two more were disqualified, meaning that the division's champions were the only ones to survive. For the first time, the WCL is shrinking; from 52 clans in season 1 to 78 and now 90, and I will tell you that season 4 will be smaller than season 2 in terms of the number of clans. Giants have fallen - Æ7 played its last race and won the World Clan League title in doing so.
The message is clear: Mario Kart is starting to wither at last. While the WCL, celebrating its first anniversary with the start of its fourth season and 45th week of action, has been one of the things that has helped the community survive, the retirement of Elche and others; the near-death of Evul; the fall of so many clans in one 10-week span; and the fact that September is traditionally a weak time for competitive gaming as students return to school combine to make one of the largest challenges for today's Mario Kart community.
Let's come together and keep this boat afloat. It is just a video game, but it is also a community, one where I have made many good friends in the past 13 months.
i've had my own issues irl between work and school but i always find time to play mario kart, and will continue to do so until a new one is made (if there ever is one). i know there are a lot of members who feel the same way so as long as we have people who want to play the game will survive, just might be a smaller community than before.
