In the last year, the Mario Kart scene has declined significantly with few exceptions. We are left with a clan market with more churn than ever before; clans that will hardly erode becoming the only reliable clans on the market; the World Clan League, one of the best competitive endeavors in multiplayer gaming; and a hodgepodge of clans and clan chats scattered across several different chats.
I believe things would be better if we did one thing: move collectively to the IRC server irc.lucidchat.net. This has been called for before, especially by Violet, but it's a darn good idea.
There are several upsides to such a move, one being universal compatibility with the Wii Internet Channel through the Mibbit web portal. Another is that people would not have to register for many, many accounts on several web sites.
And tonight, I make this offer and begin to lay the groundwork for a move
en masse to IRC. Here are the items that must be done:
- Create essential services. A Mario Kart Atrium (proposed location (#mkatrium) would serve as a general meeting place and lobby of sorts, while such successful concepts as the War Portal (proposed location #warportal) would be ported to IRC.
- Bring tournaments into the fold by establishing presences for such vaunted names as the GTT and WCL.
- Create clan chats for each clan for internal usage.
- Services, backend infrastructure, and technical details would be handled by the lucidchat.net server group.
I will also offer to move any clan to IRC. ANY clan.
Before I do any of these things, I would like to hear from you. Reply with your suggestions and opinions to improve the proposed Mario Kart Lucid system.
