E4. Dark is a rather difficult type to counter early game because of it's diverse set of moves and powerful pokemon.

It's too challenging to be a regular gym, that's probably why you only encounter a dark type trainer in the elite four.

There are plenty Dark types that can easily be beaten near the beginning of the game. Poocheyena, Nuzleaf, Purrloin, Sandile, Carvanha, Houndour, Murkrow, etc.
Despite this, I honestly don't care what types the gym leaders have. They''re usually really easy, anyway.

We had a steel type gym leader more than once,why not a dark type one

But i dont think it'd be as hard as picking a starter that the 1st gym completely counters,but even then THATS not as bad.

Yeah, that would be cool I think. It's something different anyway. I can picture the design of the gym having a dark black and purplish color to it.

I don't see why not, but I'd expect that it would be one of the later gyms. Maybe one of the final three gym leaders you face. If they do that, I hope it'll actually be a challenge though. If they stick to having only Unova region Pokemon, they'll be pretty limited to what they'll be able to use. Not really putting much effort into the next part, nor do I care what is overused/underused, but maybe a team like such would be seen.

It'd be nice if there was a Dark Type Gym, there's only been a few Elite Four members that used Dark-types, so seeing a Dark-Type Gym (maybe in the 6th Gen) would be something to see

Dark types, hard? LOL, they would set it up to where you could catch wild pokemon that are good against Dark types, since they're weak against Bug and fighting moves, you would look for those types (Heracross FTW!) or have those type of moves on your pokemon to counter those dark types in said gym.
