a ROM is like a software that you download for a Visual Boy Advance
except this isn't a GBA game its a DS game
so i guess it would be a Visual DS

anyway
its basically you downloading a "DS" on your computer and playing game data for this "DS"

to me its a little complicated to save and download and it isn't portable (unless you have a laptop or something)
but i guess you don't have to pay for the game or the hardware XD

i might just ask a Noob question again but seeming as you seem to be nice and competent in your answers could you tell me honestly if its worth looking into getting this, and what changes have been made since Pokemon versions like Rudy, yellow, green...like the 'old' skool versions (except a large bunch of new pokemon)

the chart in the front is called natures
natures determine what stat grows the faster than others

Lets take a Gardevoir
Its best stat is probably Special Attack

So
if you want your Gardevoir to have a Higher than usual Special Attack then you would get a
modest one
look at the chart

If you have a modest pokemon
its special attack will be higher than usual
but its Attack will be lower than usual

But thats fine with Gardevoir since most of its attacks are physic which most of them are Special moves

HOWEVER if you a machoke with a modest nature
its probably not a good nature for it
Its attack is lower than usual and its special attack is higher than usual

This is a problem since Machoke is a fighting type and it has mostly physical moves

so you would get a Adamant Machoke
its attack 10 % higher than usual and its SP Attack is 10 % lower than usual

but if you have a pokemon with a Bashful, Docile, Hardy, Bashful or Quirky then no stats will increase or decrease
sometimes its best to get a pokemon of that nature
such as Empoleon It learns both Physical and Special moves
but its special stat is better
so you might want a special user so make sure you get one that is a Modest nature

its getting even MORE strategic!
if you look below the nature of your pokemon it gives you a sentence about their personality
depending on that sentence also determines extra stat growth
