People generally confuse blending with the act of reducing opacity.

Blending the render with the background doesn't mean you need to make it transparent.

Instead, soft erase around the edges of the render to reduce the eminence of it, thus approximating it to the background, or at least giving that illusion.

Even though, look at my Cynthia sig. It's not one of my best, but the blending is acceptable. Look at the edges of the main render. They kind of blend in color and shape with its surroundings.
