Hello, and welcome to the Professional Kart Association, or the PKA. Right now it's only in its development stage, but soon I hope for it to be one of the biggest tournaments on the site.
This is similar not only in name, but in ideal with the PGA (Pro Golf Asso.) Every one or two weeks, a tournament will take place. For example, let's say next week is the start of the Banana Cup. Sign ups would be from Monday to Wednesday, and the tournament would be from Thursday to Sunday. Each tournament would be a 1 GP (for four days, so 4 GP total). After Friday's GP, depending on your score (which would be added up throughout the tourney), you may or may not be cut.
Quick note: for signups, you'd have to post your VR so that I can organize the groups and make sure that all the 9000+ races are in one group and the under 7000's are in another.
I would have 24 participants split into 2 games (or 36 into 3 if it becomes popular enough). The top 12 in points make the cut. It may be 6 from each, it may be 8 from one and 4 from another. If there happens to be a tie, a race-off would determine who advances to the weekend GPs. If there is a tie at the end of the competiton, once again, a race-off would determine who is the final champion.
The winner is the person who has the most points combined from each of the 4 GPs.
Now, the example I used was the Banana Cup. Each participant would have to pick the courses in the Mario Kart Wii Banana Cup in order (Sherbet Land, Shy Guy Beach, Delfino Square, and Waluigi Stadium.) This is probably the most important part of the tourney.
Like the PGA, there would be major tournaments, very sought out. These tournaments may even have prizes (Wii points?) Again like the PGA, there will be 4 each season.
Right now I have 20 separate tournaments per season (inlcuding the 4 majors.) They range from basic ones (using the MKW GP's such as Mushroom, Special, Lightning, etc.) to game specific ones (DS Cup, 64 Cup, etc.) to themed ones (beaches, deserts, etc.)
Of course, running such a big tournament series would not be easy by myself. Right now I have no way to take pictures or video and upload them to a computer, so I'd need someone to help me with that.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I want everyone's opinion on this. Is this a good idea, should I add more tournaments to the schedule (if so, make suggestions. If it's a themed one I want the name of the tourney and the courses used in it.) etc.
All in all, thanks for reading, and if you skipped all of this to get to the bottom (this sentence), then you've made me a sad panda.

Bleh, I don't like to bump my threads like this, but I really need some more opinions on this. If anyone wants to help volunteer with pictures/video or help sponser this, please let me know. I'm a fairly new member, so I figure people will shy away unless I can convince a more established member(s) to help me out.

I like the idea of having different themed tournaments and playing gp's in order of cups, but I think people would prefer to play 4 gps in 1 hour rather than 4 gp's over 4 days - it's a lot easier to get people together at one time, than it is to get a bunch of people together at the same times over 4 different days.
I'm not sure that categorizing people into vr groups is a good idea either, you can't judge someone on their vr and a good player could just enter using their alt license (5000 vr) and clean up.
But you made a good effort with your post and I wish you the best of luck.
Well I could change to 2 GPs a day for 2 days, since I'm not sure all the contestants would stick around for 4 GPs in one sitting.
Judging by VR is one of the few things I have going. I suppose I could jusge by stars as well, but there aren't a lot of things I can use to equally split the groups.
Again, this is still in the idea stage, so advice is more than welcome.

Theres no way you can split the players fairly into groups other than randomly (imo).
For instance, I have 9000+vr and 0 stars and DarkLouis (for example) has something like 6000 vr (last time I saw) and 3 stars and is one of the best players in the forum with several regional records (I believe).
