The ultimate team based Mario Kart Wii tournament.

Spoiler

The Mushroom Kingdom Classic is like any other tournament - but better. There is a ladder, and the said ladder changes every time two clans face each other. The way in which the clans play each other, however, has a level of customization to it, and a degree of uniqueness, which separates it from every other organized tournament around. The premise is simple. Each clan, out of the first sixteen to sign up, is randomly placed upon a custom-made map of the Mushroom Kingdom. Each locale on the map has a number. The lower the number, the higher the rank in which your team stands. The number doesn't determine everything, however. If a good clan starts out at a larger number, and doesn't quite reach the number one spot, they can still win. I will also keep track of clan points. Every win causes your total to increase by two points, and every loss causes it to decrease by one point. The numbered position on the map is basically used so that there is an easy way to determine the positions, if clans reach the same point totals. Every week, two clans face each other, and depending on whoever wins, the map orientation changes. Each clan will face each other once. Clans will war TWICE per week, totaling eight weeks in all. Wars will take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The wars themselves can be scheduled with the leaders who have been assigned to war each other. The results must be sent to me via private message before Monday morning. This long lasting event will take several weeks to complete, but will continue for further seasons if the interest level is of an acceptable standard. The purpose of this event is to give clans easy wars, and also for entertainment purposes.

Having too many superfluous rules often aggravates the participants, but at the same time, having some sort of regulatory system is necessary in order for a successful and organized event. That being said, the rules I have put in place have been tweaked and tampered with for some time, and I feel our current system is of the best quality it can possibly be. We running the Mushroom Kingdom Classic have tried to make things as fundamentally fair as possible.

Wars between clans in the Mushroom Kingdom Classics will be of typical war length, which is 3 GP’s. The two clans facing each other can choose however many players they want to participate. Either 5 vs 5 or 6 vs 6 is of acceptable size, and must be determined before the room opens. Clans must come to a mutual consensus. The only rule regarding the length and size of the war is that it can be no less than 5 vs 5, unless the other clan is missing a player. If they are, for some reason, only able to get 4 participants, the war will still occur, but as a 4 vs 4. Only then will 4 vs 4’s be acceptable.

Note:
While some clans unfortunately do not have access to it, voice chat is allowed during wars.

In order to shake things up, every third week of a season in the Mushroom Kingdom Classic will have a randomized “Theme”. All clans will have to abide by this theme, regardless of what it is. Failure to do so will result in an automatic loss. I will announce the themes in advance, so players have time to prepare and practice for whatever it is. Expect things such as “Kart only” GP’s, and more. This unique feature gives clans that may not have the best players an opportunity to succeed. Things need to be balanced in order for everybody to have fun. That being said, any clan with truly the best roster will be able to win, no matter what circumstance faces them.

The customization does not stop there. Before the wars between clans start, they must decide on a disconnection policy to suit their needs. If the two clans cannot come to a unanimous decision before war time, I will randomly decide for them. There are three different options present. Remember, the rule must be decided upon BEFORE the room opens!

Option #1 – Every time a player disconnects, the race in which the player disconnected must be redone.
Option #2 – If a player on a team disconnects, so that the match becomes uneven, the player on the opposing clan drops their lowest score of the grand prix. If two players on one clan disconnect, then drop the bottom two overall scores on the opposing clan. More than two results in an auto restart.
Option #3 – If a player disconnects on the first race, he or she receives an extra score of +15. If the disconnect occurs on the second race, the point total becomes 10. On the third race, it becomes 7, and 3 on the fourth.

Like for disconnections, there are also several different rules for course choices, which can be decided upon before the war begins. Clans and clan leaders should have the opportunity to democratically make important decisions based on how they want to play each other. If a course outside of the option is selected, such as a repeat for option 2, there will be no point reduction, rather, a simple redo of the race. For example, if Bob selects Shy Guy Beach during a random only war, and it gets selected, the host will do an extra, 13th race after the 3rd GP has ended, in order to eliminate the Shy Guy Beach race.

Option #1 – Random only for the entire war.
Option #2 – Voting only for the entire war.
Option #3 – Both voting and random are allowed.

The individual that hosts the war can also be decided upon in a democratic fashion. Remember to make all of your decisions before the war beings! Wars should run smoothly, if so.

Hacking and multi clanning are not tolerated, however, there will be no homebrew test, or license screen photo required. If you’re caught multi clanning, you will receive a notification about your misdeed. There will never be an automatic ban, unless the crime committed is of severe level. If you’ve been caught hacking, you will be banned for the season. If you have hacked in the past, here’s your chance to be forgiven. Nobody will have a grudge placed on them upon entering Mushroom Kingdom Classic, however, a punishment will occur if you happen to break one of the said rules during your time in this tournament.

If you are dissatisfied with the tournament, and wish to withdraw your clan, the clan one rank lower will take your place, allowing for a new clan to join at the bottom.

If a disqualification happens, as rare as they may be, the same applies for them. The clan one rank lower will move up. You have to be pretty brutal in order to get your clan disqualified from the Mushroom Kingdom Classic, so don’t worry about it.

Leaders of clans can PM me all roster information, including names and friend codes of all participating members. If you are a participant, please have your leader give me your stats, so the chaos is kept to a minimum. As long as you are in a clan, and the said clan has registered for the Mushroom Kingdom Classic, you are able to join. If you're interested in signing up for this tourney, either:

A - PM me with the name of your clan, and a list of members in that clan.
B- Create an account on our forums, and make a post there. I will try to update everything as much as possible.
