The Grand Master Circuit (or GMC) is a 1v1 Tournament of epic proportions. I'd like to begin by saying that anyone can enter, regardless of vr, rank, whatever. I am aiming for AT LEAST 128 participants and sign-ups will continue until they slow down too much. I expect the tourney to last around a month or two.

To begin with, there will be a qualifier round. Every player is paired randomly with someone else, and you must beat your opponent in a 2GP random tracks match. After each of these matches have been finished, the group stages will begin. the size of each group (and how many from each group continue) will be determined by number of sign-ups. Group Stage matches are Single GP's with random tracks, you gaining 1 point each time you win a track, plus 1 extra if you win the GP overall.

From that point onwards the knockout stages will begin. The rules are obvious; play and win, or be knocked out. the further you go the more GP's a match will be, and in the later stages track lists will be introduced. In the end, the 2 finalists will have a 32 track race(thats every track in the game) to determine who is the best player of all MKWii.

And on a final note: there will be certain other awards that will be given for meeting certain criteria; for example: the Fair-Play award is given for offering to rematch your opponent if they lost unfairly, being gracious when you win as well as if you lose, among other such things. So, even if you don't win, you might still find your virtual trophy cabinet full =D

better than 12 man FFa where items are the only decider on the outcome =|

well...good luck, but I'm not sure that you'll get anything near to 128 participants, most of us don't like 1v1

in 1v1 is luck base too between 2 good people because of clouds and blue shell =/

there are rules for TC's blue shells are rare, and you can choose to arrange your matches to have no items in.

Wow, will all of you stop whining. 1v1 shows who's really the best, and there'll be group play later on. I think this is a great idea and I already signed up. I expect a lot of people from here to join.

Interesting. I may save my signup for later, as I´m unsure whether I´m fully capable to take a tournament this big later when it starts. However it does have a lot of potential.

1vs1 has it´s disadvantages, mainly the Thundercloud for 2nd placers and Blue Shell for 1st placers (hey... doesn´t that even things out? Maybe, if either the Cloud appeared less frequently or the Blue Shell more frequently...), but rather have 2 items decide a race than a Blue Shell + Lightning + Red Shell + Star + Bullet Bill rape combo... Also, 12 players means 12x more items in the race, so it´s way more intense, and random...

1vs1 may not be the fairest thing around, but at least it´s more do-able. If both players aren´t happy with the results the winner can always offer a rematch anyway, following the Other Awards idea NeoGenesis posted on his first post. It´s TT Skill + Item usage against one fixed opponent, plus the extra luck bit, which for the competition scene is fair enough. Wanna have fun?, go play with more players instead.
