Who is the best GP racer on mkw.com ?
This is the ultimate long-term tournament to decide who is currently the best GP racer on mkw.com. Participate in the twice-a-week events (whenever you want- they are not obligatory) and rise or climb on the ladder as you are victorious or get trampled upon.
The Concept
Twice a week (on Monday and Thursday at 9PM UK) you are given the chance to race in competitive rooms at your own skill-level. This is achieved by attributing to every racer a VR (like on Nintendo WFC), using in fact a very close approximation to the real Nintendo formulas. After each event, the scores are processed and your new VR will be visible throughout the leaderboards and statistics. In order to handle this large mass of data and calculations, a powerful web-system was designed (very like the one for GTT), aiding in a smooth and flexible flow even when a large amount of racers is present.
Events Schedule:
The list below includes the schedule of events. Sign-up is always for the first one in the list. The timezones are defined as follows. 'UK' indicates the current time in London. 'EDT' indicates the current time in New York City. Conversion between the two: UK = EDT+5.
- Saturday at 9PM EDT
- Wednesday at 9PM UK
- Sunday at 9PM UK
Player Limit:
4096 (I don't really expect to reach this any time soon..)
The GIT Leaderboard (limited to the top 50 at most):
Event procedure:
Half an hour before the start subscription will be closed and the pairings will be made. We will need hosts (otherwise a room gets canceled), so go to the chatroom and offer yourself. :) Other than our eternal gratitude, being the host also guarantees that you never miss a GP due to DC. When the pairings are up and the hosts are added, add him and join your room. Race 3GP's (take pictures when possible) and then you're done. :) After the results have been posted, the new VRs will be calculated and posted. An entire GIT (from pairings to scores being posted) takes up to two hours ideally.
To Sign Up:
1/ Go to
Welcome to Gamers Elysia and click 'Sign Up' (if necessary you will have to register to the forum first. People that are in the GTT won't have to do this).
2/ If you wish to play in the upcoming event, go to 'Players', find your name, click it. On the Member View page, click the 'Yes' button at the top if you want to play.
Note: It is very important to follow Step 2 as well. During the Avant-Premičre/Beta test of the GIT, we noticed a few people had forgotten to do this and as such could not participate (well, they did after I clicked it for them, but I will not always do that). Not clicking the 'Yes' button (so only following step 1) will register you as a GIT player, but not for the next event.
The Rules:
- Each room (if there is more than one), will race 3GP's. Contrary to the GTT, not the global results from all three GP's together counts as an event, but each GP separately. On a GIT night you will, therefore, race 3 events in a row.
- Voting will be random.
- No lame hacking. Other than the obvious blue shell hacks, we don't need any VR=0 or VR=35555 or so either. If you're a hacker, just stay home. :)
-Other rules (like DC'ing) are the same as for GTT when applicable.
GIT Admins:
These people can be contacted if you need any help. Additionally, they are in charge of hosting a GIT event. The name of the admin-in-charge during any GIT event will be announced in the topic of the chatroom.
Head Admin:
-Demian (Belgium)
Admins:
- Nasir (Finland)
- Evoker (Luxembourg)
- Bone (UK)
- Korchie (USA)
- Junkie (Australia)
- Brotworst (USA)
- jonc (UK)
Countries -usually- indicate the timezones they will be able to cover.
The admins are still in 'training', so you might at times see Pairings appear occasionally, by means of practice. This is nothing to worry about. :') If you'd like to be a GIT admin as well, note a few restrictions. You must fairly often participate in tourneys (GIT/GTT preferably) and be older than 18 (even though there are a few exceptions to this rule). Being civilised and able to cope under 'stress' and flaming is most important - i.e. you must always be able to realise this is just a (pretty good) game. :)
'Job' Openings:
Contact Demian if you are interested in helping us out, with one of the below summed up tasks. It's all voluntary and nobody is ever asked to do more than he feels to.
-
US GIT Admin (a few extra are needed to guarantee coverage of all US events)
-
Graphical designer :(the in-house GIT Graphical Designer is in charge of all artwork related to the GIT, including medals (see shabby job at the top right now) and whatever else he or she can think of. Fancy stuff like a license that always shows the current rank and VR can be developed together with Demian. There's a lot of room here to let your creative imagination run wild. :)
-
Pit girl: Display various degrees of nudity (and look good while doing so). Redheads are favoured, but we're not generally picky.

Chat:
Be on the chatbox (
Welcome to Gamers Elysia -> Chat) to be informed about hosts. The GIT works very similarly to the GTT and the Pairings page will look very familiar to you if you play in the latter.
People who signed up for the next event:
Note: If you don't see your name here, even though you subscribed, you probably forgot to click the 'Yes' button (see Step 2 in Signing Up)! There is no delay between the update of this list and you signing up - it's all automatic.
