I thought when you hit 500( i wasn't aware I hit 500 till someone told me) you get to change your username.. but instead, it's requesting one. Don't you think, at a certain rank you should be able to change your username, at your own will?

No. It has to be approved. If you want it done immediately, Bowdeni was saying you could request one on his profile page (not a PM but leaving a comment on his page). He said every user could do it once, if they desperately needed it done right away and didnt wanna wait for the system to do it for you.

No way, people would be changing it ALL the time and would abuse it. This way is much better. If they were to do that option, maybe for people who post 2,000... or 4,000

Yeah, like 500 to request is mine, and perhaps like 2000 could allow you to change it yourself. As long as not so many people have it and can abuse it, it would probably work out.

What is everyone talking about.. honestly? Abusing it? What's your problem, if you have the option, you'de use it. You can't abuse it. Using it alot doesn't mean your abusing it. I see NO harm what so ever if 500+ posts people can change their own name. What's the big deal if we have it, abusing? How do you abuse something like that.. you guys clearly don't have any sense in what your saying. You can't abuse it, you guys think, that just becuase people would use it alot, it means they would abuse it.. I know alot of sites that you can name change after a certain increment amount of posts.. this forum is better, that's why I want this system put in..

and by "abusing" if you mean people will put inappropriate names.. thats why we have moderators.
