Greetings all readers, and welcome to the first issue of the monthly Mario Kart Wii Chronicles Newspaper. Last month was a rocky month, wasn't it? But as a community and gaming site, we managed to get through the tough times. And once again every single member of this site is reunited as brother and sister. The goal of this paper is to make sure that we keep members updated on what is really going on inside the heart of this site. We are a group of writers, and our goal is to make sure you have a pleasant and informative experience while reading our paper. I'm sure that you’re wondering why I decided to start a newspaper on this community. Well, good question. At first, before I ever thought of creating a newspaper, I considered a weekly blog. But sadly, I knew that wouldn’t work because blogs at this site are currently inactive and at the time, I didn't have VIP status. Then I thought of a weekly column that covered all the news and gossip on the site. That idea was quickly shot down as I realized all that would do was cause drama.

Finally I came to the conclusion that this site lacked a newspaper, so I decided that the site deserved one. After a few weeks of brainstorming and careful plotting, the Mario Kart Wii Chronicles was born. Shortly after, we perhaps became the most successful organization this site has ever seen. So now I welcome every member, every one of you to read this paper. We would greatly appreciate your precious time because the staff has been hard at work for the last two months trying to make this possible. Please enjoy the paper, and feedback and criticism is accepted at all causes. Without all of you people, this paper wouldn't be possible and we all would like to thank everyone who gave us the hope to continue a project that has failed in the past to greater lengths. With this final note, I welcome every single member of the site to read this paper. Please enjoy and have a great day!

Mario Kart Wii is going around America to teach children to drive! They will be visiting San Diego, Las Vegas, Denver, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, & New Jersey. It looks like lots of fun! The tour has basically finished, so it could be coming to a city near you! All of these pictures are on this website and I got all the information is on the website.

Here is a cool thing I found while searching the website: if you would like a Mario Kart Wii Widget for your computer get one off this website (below). I have one; it is really cool, and all you have to do is click on the button saying Mario Kart Widget and pick the picture you would like. Then just download it!

For all true gamers, no other area of entertainment interests you more than the one I’ll talk about here today: video games. The plethora of video games we have available in today’s society is astounding! Today we can find a wide array of games for people of both genders and all ages. But sadly, we can’t go into great detail about every single video game we could recommend to you. Therefore, this article will select the video games that have huge potential and will discuss each one. I really hope you find this article helpful when you look for that new game you’ve been wanting. Get ready….Get set....Read!

As you may know, in the beginning of June, there was an E3 conference. If you don’t already know, the E3 conference is a yearly convention in which game designers reveal their latest and upcoming work. It is THE place to go to learn about games that will make you go CRAZY with enthusiasm, and it is a must-see for gamers everywhere! In the Microsoft conference, there were many games that seemed to really shine out from the rest. The first game they unveiled was The Beatles: Rock Band. This latest addition to the Rock Band series will feature peripherals that model the real instruments used by Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and George Harrison. However, songs from the past Rock Band games as well as from the Guitar Hero series can be used with this game. This game is the first to introduce harmonies into the scene, which “challenges you to recreate the Beatles’ vocal blend”. The Beatles: Rock Band includes a wide variety of the Beatles’ songs that samples from their entire career. From Day Tripper and I Am the Walrus, to Back in the U.S.S.R., there is definitely a great choice of songs that you will love. There are a number of venues in the game that range from The Ed Sullivan Theatre to Abbey Road, representing the band’s historical rise to fame. The graphics really show you a good view of the key moments in the Beatles’ career. This highly expected game is due to come out for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and the Nintendo Wii on September 9, 2009.

At the E3 Conference, it was also announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would be released; and they showed some footage of the game. Unfortunately, little is known about this game at the moment, but what I can tell you is this: from the footage shown, this game looks amazing! The graphics are great and the game-play looks out of this world! It is set to come out this fall.

On June 2, Nintendo gave their presentation. Although it was first expected to be a dull performance by one of the least favoured companies, they gave their audiences and the gaming world quite a few surprises (both good and bad). The first game they showed was the New Super Mario Bros. game for the Nintendo Wii. This new game is a 2D scrolling-screen game with 3D characters. It will feature new power-ups and multiplayer options that allow for up to four characters (Mario, Luigi, and two Toads). It is scheduled to come out for the holidays in 2009.

A second popular unveiling from Nintendo was the announcement for Super Mario Galaxy 2! Yes, it’s true! The fun and the excitement from that galactic game you played is being followed up with a sequel! Little is known yet, but it seems the graphics have been improved to look better than before with even more creativity in the game’s design. It is set to come out later in 2010.

Another important part of this E3 conference was when they talked about Wii Sports Resort. This game is very similar to it's prequel, Wii Sports, but the mini-games consist of beach and resort-like themes. The many games in Wii Sports Resort range from a sword fighting game to jet skiing. All of the games take place on a beach resort on a place called “Wuhu Island”. This game is part of the popular Wii Series and will come with an extension for the Wiimote called “Wii Motion Plus”. The “Wii Motion Plus” will help make the Wiimote even more accurate and will allow for more complex movements. It plugs into the back end of the Wiimote and also has a slot that allows for a Nunchuck to be plugged in as well. To fit the “Wii Motion Plus” extension on the Wiimote and then inside the regular Wiimote jacket is impossible, so additionally, with every Wii Motion Plus, you will get a new, longer jacket to protect your controller. This game is set to come out in June, so get ready for some beach fun with Wii Sports Resort!

With the clear popularity of Wii Fit, Nintendo decided to begin working on a game like it, but better. This new game, called Wii Fit Plus, utilizes the Wii Balance Board just like its prequel. It will include a number of new games, such as Skateboarding and Rhythm Kung Fu. You can set whichever length of time you want your workout to be, and just by picking an area you wish to improve on, the game will select a diverse set of activities to play. With an even wider variety of games to choose from, Wii Fit Plus will redesign how you exercise every day. This game is set to be sold both packaged with the Wii Balance Board or by itself. It is due to be out in stores this fall.

Now, for the final company of the Big Three: Sony. The first of the many announcements in the conference was that 364 games are coming out for the Playstation platform this year. The president and CEO of Sony, Jack Tretton, states “It would be the biggest year in Playstation history!” To follow up these facts, a number of games were shown to build upon their point. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was shown, using its high-quality graphics to capture the crowd’s attention. In addition, they talked about the PSP’s expansion for the pre-teen interest. A Hannah Montana bundle with a lilac-colored PSP will be available this July. Sony also discussed a wide variety of games, including a racing game where you can even build your own tracks! Sony truly made a good impression on its audience during the E3 conference!

With today’s vast range of writing styles and topics, there is always a book out there for you. Whether it be about cowboys or alien spaceships, one exists, just waiting for you to open it up and delve into its story. The following article shall deal with the reviews of many of these novels that we deeply recommend to you and your friends. Please enjoy as you enter the world of writing!

Lately, there have been a number of people who have expressed their love for the various arts of writing. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a wonderful example of a novel that fits the preferences of a wide range of readers. This book takes place in the continent of North America, which is now a country named Panem. In this nation, an event called the Hunger Games is hosted every year. In these Hunger Games, 24 kids between the ages of twelve and eighteen are chosen to fight to the death. The winner gets fame and fortune- the ones that lose pay with their lives. This novel is about sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen’s life-changing adventure through the perilous games. Will she live and achieve her greatest dreams of long-lasting happiness? Or will Katniss never come home alive? Find out in this fast-paced, intriguing read, The Hunger Games.

But of course, not everyone is an adventure reader. For instance, you may prefer romance. If so, Twilight is probably for you. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer is one of the most popular books of the decade, bringing in millions of readers everywhere. This novel is about a girl and her lover, which just so happens to be a vampire. From when they mysteriously meet to the heartwarming end to the novel, romance followers will greatly enjoy this book. It was amazingly written, with a wide array of characters and twists and turns at every corner. Twilight is definitely a recommended read.


Of course, writing is not the only form of entertainment today. Movies and TV shows have become part of our daily routine, coming into our lives every day. Some may be astoundingly beautiful productions, but have a low popularity. For that reason, I would like to tell you about some recent movies and shows that I think you’ll enjoy.

Ah, TV. The icon of the American home. One of the numerous programs you may watch on television is the ever popular House. This medical drama series is a favorite of many, including myself. It concerns Gregory House, a doctor at the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital who is played by British actor Hugh Laurie, and all the medical phenomena and challenges he faces. Five seasons have already been produced, with a sixth to come in September 2009.

But as always, not everyone has the same taste for TV. Perhaps you like a comical children show. If that’s the case, you may want to check out one of the more favored shows out there, iCarly. This hit series debuted on September 8, 2007 on Nickelodeon and ever since, it has been a popular show to people of varying ages. The focus of the show is on a girl named Carly (played by Miranda Cosgrove) who hosts her own web show called iCarly. Full of funny cracks and wits, this show may be for you.

Now, for movies. The theatre is a place for all ages, people of all interests. People meet here to watch a movie or simply to have fun and hang out. Regardless of their mission in going there, the power of movies lures them in. That same power is going to be realized as you read the following paragraphs about the hottest new movies out there. Enjoy!

Timeless classics, don’t we all love them? The familiar tone of the movie, the intriguing plot that pulls you inside the movie, the great storyline. You could probably list a vast number of movies like these, examples being The Sound of Music, Old Yeller, and, the latest movie to add to that list, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Derived from the short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, this movie is a production worth recommending to almost everybody. Have you ever thought about what life would be like if we aged backwards? Born old and die young, how does that seem to you? What would happen? Well, this strange case applies to Benjamin Button, played by Brad Pitt, in this PG-13 movie. This is one of those movies that can bring tears to your eyes and really bring the emotions out of the movie to you. I definitely think that this movie is a must-see for 2009.

If you don’t like that pick, how about you try Taken on for size? This new hit movie instantly became a favorite among critics when it first came out in theatres. Rated PG-13, Taken is about a former spy who goes down a perilous trail to find his teenage daughter, who is kidnapped in Paris. Meeting up with ruthless criminals and prostitution rings, he puts out all he has to save her. Action at every turn, this is a fast-paced movie that I’m sure you’ll love.

The New York Mets have not had the start of the season that they might have expected. Some of their best players such as Carlos Delgado and Jose Reyes have faced injures that have kept them out for a while. In fact, both players are most likely sidelined until after the All-Star break. Now, the Mets are relying on their rookies to keep them winning. However, Veteran players have cost the Mets to lose a few games. Some of these games were against the Yankees, two in fact. Luis Castillo dropped a fly ball with two outs and runners on first and second base. Both of the runs scored and the Mets lost, resulting in Francisco Rodriguez, the Mets closer, receiving his first loss/blown save of the year. The other game was when Johan Santana had a rough outing. He allowed nine earned runs and the Mets lost this game by a final of fifteen to nothing. To top it off, when the Yankees came to Citi Field to conclude the Subway Series, they won all three games and won the Subway Series. As of now, the Mets season is going downhill. They have nine people on the disabled list and have a five game losing streak. They have also fallen from second to third place in the National League East standings. The big question is will the Mets be able to finish this season in first place and make the playoffs without a late season collapse?

The Los Angeles Lakers were crowned champions last Sunday as they defeated their weak opponent, the Orlando Magic 4-1. However, there were mixed emotions as to whether it was a surprise that the Lakers and the Magic had made it to the Finals. Many had favored the Boston Celtics or even the Cleveland Cavaliers to advance, but they were both eliminated. The Lakers are the winners and the 2009 NBA season is over. Now, the NFL season is about to begin. Are you ready for some football?

With the NHL season ending, a new team was crowned Stanley Cup Champions. The Pittsburgh Penguins won their 1st Stanley Cup Championship since they had a repeat in the years of '91 and '92. One person that has been on the ice for all three of the Stanley Cup Championship Celebration is Mario Lemuiex. After last year losing to Detriot in 6 games, many players were going to leave. Ray Shero and Mario Lexmiux tried to find a winning substance in the free agency period. They brought in Miroslav Satan and 04' Stanley Cup Champion Ruslan Fedtanko who scored the Lighting's two goals in Game 7 aganist Calgary in 04. Many Pens fans were skeptical about this team mid-season a new coaching change mid-season. Pens fans thought their season was over but with the coaching change for the Pens who let go of Mihael Therian for Dan Byslma really worked in the Pens favor. With a couple of days until the NHL Draft, John Tavares and Victor Headman are waiting in eagerness to see who will play for New York Islanders. Free Agency will happen on July 1st. Will your team get the best player of this years free agency class? Wait and see.

The Cincinnati Reds aren't on top of their game. Why? Simply because of the loss of many of their players. 5 players on the disabled list , and some also aren't on the Active Roster or 40 Man Roster. Edwin Encarnacion, the only Red who is on the 60 day disabled list, has been in only 19 games this season, hitting only 127. Alex Gonzalez, the most recent Red to go the DL, will have elbow surgery. Edinson Volquez, who has been on the DL since June 2nd, has elbow tendinitis and will be out longer then expected. With many others on the DL like, Mike Lincoln and Wilkin Castillo, their team is not doing well. While Votto just got off the DL, the Reds, without him, weren't too good. Wilkin Castillo was playing first base with Votto's injury. Willy Traves is in a big slump in hitting. Going 0 for 27 in his past 14 games, he thinks that he's letting his team down. The injuries will probaly lose hope for the playoffs. If the Reds don't improve their record (34-36), they won't make it to the playoffs. The 2nd quarter of baseball is coming and let's all hope 2 is the Reds' lucky number.

Howdy and welcome to the first issue of the MKW Chronicles! I’m KingdomHero, or KH for short and currently, I’m the only Health journalist, so I’m probably going to write 2-3 articles per issue at the most, so don’t get upset if you like Health and don’t get too much to read up on, I’m only one man with a deadline. I’ve decided to try out some things that might be fun in the next issue, mainly to make my articles as interesting, up-to-date, and varied as I possibly can. If you come across an interesting article about Health, and you would like to share it with the rest of the forum, just PM me the link to the story and mention any key things in the story you want me to write about when writing the article, and I’ll consider it for the next issue! Michael Jackson, Pop Icon and International Phenomenon, Dies at the Age of 50

Michael Jackson, referred to as “The King of Pop”, died Thursday, June 25, 2009 after going into cardiac arrest. Someone in his rented mansion called 911, saying, “I need an ambulance”, and the pop star was soon rushed to a Los Angeles hospital by paramedics. At 2:21 P.M. ET, he was pronounced dead. The autopsy on his body has been completed, but his exact cause of death is not yet confirmed. Medical examiners have ordered toxicology, neuropathology, and pulmonary tests, which could take up to 6-8 weeks. Head of operations for the coroner’s office, Craig Harvey, says these test will determine his cause of death. The coroner also said that there are no indications of foul play. Michael Jackson was on prescription medication, but Craig would not elaborate. The singer was known to have a long history of medical problems. In 1984, his scalp was burned from a misfired special effects explosive in a Pepsi commercial, which he said cause him to become addicted to painkillers. He had numerous plastic surgeries, including a chin implant. In 1993, his dermatologist said he had a skin disease called vitaligo. This disease cause you to lose melanin, an important pigment that determines your skin, eye, and hair color in different areas of the victim's body. He frequently suffered from dehydration in rehearsals and concerts. Jackson had multiple injuries from rehearsals and concerts. But the pop star's death was finally caused by a popular occurrence, called cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest affects 300,00 Americans every year, and without treatment, the victim will almost definitely die.

Brain with ADHD Develops Differently

A study by the National Institutes of Health in November of 2007 determined that children with ADHD had brains that developed in a normal pattern. But, in recent studies, it is revealed that certain parts of their brains have a 3 year delay when developing. These delays are usually in the control, action, and attention sections. The big question has always been this: ‘Are their brains developing slower, or are they developing in an entirely different way?’. To you parents that have children with ADHD, your children’s brains are developing the same way a healthy, normal child’s brain would, if only a little slower. Your children CAN grow out of this disorder, and their brains can catch up in development with people without ADHD, but they will already be well out of adolescence or even into adulthood.

Conclusion

And there it is. The first edition of the Mario Kart Wii Chronicles is almost over, with the exception of some acknowledgements I'd like to make. First of all, I would like to recognize Zinix for creating the newspaper. And of course, it couldn't be possible without the great efforts of the staff members. They are the ones that wove the tales of the past month into a great fabric of information for you to enjoy. But as always, a newspaper would be nothing without the people to read it.
