i think that the name change system the forums have now is fine. otherwise there would be too many name changes even with that 3 week idea. the way they have it now is more like a gift. like on christmas week you can change it. and vip cant change it often anyways.
best is to just keep what we have now.

Username changes for regular members are done once every year around Christmas whereas VIP's have a name change on every third month (March, June, September, December).

If I was to be honest you should have thought more wisely on the username you wanted to have when registering. If you want a name change you would either have to wait until Christmas or upgrade to VIP. If you introduce the system where you can change your name by yourself users should only be able to have 1 name change per year, and VIP's would be able to have 1 every 3 months. But I am no expert on these things and I'm not sure if it works that way. You should try to contact someone who is more of an expert when it comes to vBulletin or mention it to the staff and they can discuss it from there. It's probably the way it is at the moment to prevent confusion between the members and the staff.

Although VIP's have the privilege to change their name every 3 months, not many actually do. They aren't spoilt.

It will probably be like when you register. If you try to register with a name that's already taken it informs you, so I guess it's the same way as that.

Eh I guess we do get lots of features. I'm basically a mod but I can't control other people, change my name colour, or get a Rainbow User Title.

The PayPal thing, well I for one didn't beg to my parents for it. I have my own PayPal account and a prepaid debit card. That's how I got my VIP. So don't assume anything :x

VIP's almost have no practical features anymore. So being the only ones with regular name changes is fair and justified. Some forums don't have name changes at all, so be grateful that you can.

VIP status is fair. They pay extra, and get a VIP. What's your reasoning that it's unfair? That younger members can't because they have to beg their parents? Frigging no. That's like saying, "Oh, that new video game is unfair because the only way I can get it is to beg my parents."

I know a site that has a name change week every half year. The rules are that you cannot change it if you already changed it last time.
