After many many months my experiment is complete during these past few months I took observation notes on the subject of popularity on these forums and heres the conclusion I ended up with. I was pretty much bewildered in the outcome of all this but I was really shocked by it.

Other things I used in my experiment was getting some of my friends to site up a few months back I think in july and having them post a walkthrough or a guide written by me and as expected the guide was ignored due to them not being known on the forums

I also noticed during my observation that many new members try to become friends with the older members to become more popular and that many of those members tried to get popular by uploading pictures of themselves on there albums.


In my studies I also learned that popular members have a higher chance of becoming a moderator if they have a high post count and are friends with the staff. Popular members also tend to be much slower then non-popular members when it comes to critical thinking and global debates.

I also learned that if a popular members attack another user for expressing there opinion that they will also join in the assault to try to become popular in the process and become friends with the popular member.

Also during the time of April regular members gave rep to popular members for a chance of being popular themselves, I was one of those persons but I changed since april my cocky attitude died in late may I was so full of myself back that I can't even believe it now

Popular members has a higher chance of getting there question answered then non popular members which is another observation that I learned during my study on this subject

* Members who post a lot of pictures up of themselves have a higher chance of becoming popular then other users.
* Members who choose to form an alliance/friendship with staff members become popular instantly
* If a Members with a lot of friends decides to write a fanfiction or post a walkthrough will instantly get a lot of hits then the other member who posts something better
* Members who choose not to Aline themselves with popular users are ignored
* Members with a lot of friends thinks highly of themselves and thinks that there better then everybody else.
* Members with a lot friends usually brag about post count and rank
*Any kind of post by a non popular member will be ignored unless its spam or flaming
*Members that are high of themselves usually end up making some kind of thread to increase there fanbase.
* Members are afraid of breaking friendships because they might lose there thunder.
* Popular members can get away with flaming and spamming
* Non-popular members who creates one flaming thread has a higher chance of being warned or permanent banned then popular members
* Members joins popular clans or clubs for a chance to become popular
* Non-popular members are jealous of popular members
* Veterans think highly of themselves and some think there better then everybody
* Members signed up means everything
* Popular Members have a higher chance of becoming a moderator then then more smarter non-known user
* Popular members can get away with attacking non-popular users
* Members often gave rep to popular members for a chance to get popular
*Popular members has a higher chance of getting there question answered then non popular members

Remember this is my views and you can't change don't so please no insults this took me a while to complete and it was worth it and provided a great amount of information about members of the board and popularity in my eyes. I know theres no way I can change the popular and non-popular member conflict nobody can really its just how life goes and you can't do anything about it.

Actually, I agree with what you've said. It's pretty much true, with an exception of the non-popular members bit. I don't actually think unpopular people are jealous of popular ones. Well, some are, blatantly, but i'm not really popular here, and i'm not jealous anyways

Well this happens in most forums I'm on, excluding the part where you talk about friendships.

You know why this happens? Because we're not that big. If we were a big forum there wouldn't be a popular group as you state, but several many, integrated with the rest.

I think the rest is normal.

You never seem to make threads to increase your fan-base, unless this is some weird thing to get you noticed more for good or bad.
