Here is a guide I made:
1. If you want the Homebrew Channel you first need an SD Card.
(It would be easiest to have a completely blank SD Card with no files or folders already on it)
2. Then you need Bannerbomb you can get at
bannerbomb
3. Pick your Wii Menu Version If you don't know your Wii Menu Version go to Wii Options Then go to Wii Settings in the top right corner you will see your Wii Menu Version.
4. On the blank SD Card you will need to download abd6a_v200.zip (If you have Wii Menu 4.2) or aad1f_v108.zip (if on Wii Menu 3.0-4.1)
5. You should now from the root of the SD card have the following folders in this order: "private/wii/title/aktn". And in the "atkn" folder there should be a file called "content.bin". (Without the quotes)
6. Go download the HackMii installer (Go to
BootMii.org and click "HackMii Installer v0.6"), Open up this folder, and copy "boot.elf" to the root of the SD card. (The root is the very beginning or "first level" of the SD card)
7. Put the SD Card in the SD slot in the Wii.
8. Go to Wii Options, then Data Management, then Wii Channels then at the top right corner go to SD Card you should have a pop-up message that says Load boot.dol/elf (If you paid, you were scammed!
The Homebrew Channel)
9. Once it loads boot.dol/elf (may take 30 seconds or so, be patient), Press 1 to continue.
9. Once you press 1 the installer will load and you can install the Homebrew Channel, DVDX allows burned games to be played, and BootMii Boot your Wii differently when you put the SD Card in. Lets just install the Homebrew Channel.
10. If it downloads correctly, your Wii should restart and you will now see the Homebrew Channel.
11. Once you installed the Homebrew Channel you will need applications. You can download the Homebrew Browser at (
Homebrew Browser - WiiBrew and click download on the right hand side of the screen)
The Homebrew Browser requires Internet connection and lets you install Applications.
12. Go in the Root of the SD Card and create a folder called APPS then put the "homebrew_browser" file in the APPS folder.
13. Now that you have the Homebrew Browser you can download lots of cool apps.

If the Wii freezes when you try step 8. Try these other files for Wii Menu 3.0-4.1.

Or Wii Menu 4.2.
