A short story I wrote for "Freewriting" a while back in one of my drama-esque classes. Best part was: We got to read the stories in class, and because mine's took on the form of a play, we got to do different parts. Victory. Anyway, here. It's a bit of a Comedy Relief session as well. 10 Cookies and a free signature to the first person that guesses who ??? and ???(2) are. Also, sorry for double posting, but the shory story wouldn't fit into a single post....

Vindication of Oddities.

???: Are you sure this is going to work?
??? (2): ........Yes. Just follow my lead.

It was dark, yet there was much light being radiated. Two shadowy figures where walking down a glittering path. There where Large glowing trees, and shining blades of
grass every where. Even the mud seemed to radiate a pinkish purple glow. The night was young, yet stars could be seen in the sky. The High Elevation made breathing difficult, but the sight was fantastic.

???: ...Gah.......all of these lights........
??? (2):.....Shh! Quiet! Someone's there!

The two figures hid behind a tree when they heard a branch snap. Watching to see who was there, a bird flew over their heads, and landed on a near by branch. A Small figure walked down the path, all dressed in blue. Upon getting a closer look, the figures saw who it was.

Geno: Ah....such a glorious night. The Birds seem so gleeful. And yet....

Geno paused and glanced around. He seemed to be looking for something.

Geno:....and yet.......something seems amiss......Ah well.......it may be my imagination. Better run back and tell the others that nothings wrong here.

The Puppet turned and began to skip back. The
two figures stared at each other. As Geno turned a corner, the figures step from the shadows.

???: Others? I thought you said this place would be deserted!
??? (2):.........It should be......What losers. New Years is right around the corner, and what are they doing? Being stupid. They should be down their with all of those other idiots partying, ushering in another crappy millenia.
???:......whatever. Lets just hurry up and do this.

The two figures look at each other and continue walking. Carefully, they approach a large body of water. It reflects the night sky. It ripples various times, reflecting a large rainbow colored tower. The two shadows stare at each other.

???:......great. Now what the hell do we do?
??? (2):........shut up. We Swim.
???:.....what?! I can't swim!
??? (2):........*sigh*.....then....we find an alternate route...

The second figure sighs as the first spits in the water. They
look around for alternative means to cross the large lake. Finding nothing, they walk back a few steps, seeing if there was a secret bridge of some sorts.

???"(2):....nothing. Great. Just Great.

The second figure sits down on a rock and sighs. The first looks at the water. He sighs as well, but notices something. He gleefully calls the second figure.

???: Look at this!
??? (2):.......I swear if this is something stupi-......?.....you've got to be kidding me.

They look into the water to see it reflecting some sort of silver bridge. Looking up, they see nothing. They stare at each other. They glare into each others eyes.

???:1.......
???(2):2.......
???/???(2):........3!
???:........crap.

The first shadow hung his head low, losing once again at the game. The second laughed. The First figure walked over to the middle of the shore and sighed. He brought his foot in the air, and
suprisingly, stepped onto something.

???: Look! It must be an invisible bridge!

The second Shadow rushed over to the first. They both stepped onto the apparent bridge and laughed. However, it began to shake.

???:1.......
???(2):.........RUN!

They bolted across the bridge as it rumbled. It became visible towards the end. Both figures barely reached the end of the bridge. They looked back to see the bridge had fully appeared, but had sunken into the water. They both gasped for breath.

???:...ha....ah......we made it....
???(2):2.......ah........hurry..ha........lets get this over with.....ha...

The shadows stood up and continued on the path. Hearing yet another set of foot steps, they dove behind more trees. A Winged Figure appeared in the distance. It was wearing all white, and appeared to be somewhat of an Angel.

Pit:......What was that noise........

The two figures looked
at each other and gulped. The angelic being floated by their trees to the bridge. Well, what was left of the bridge anyway.

Pit:.......!!!! What the.....the Bridge!! It's gone!!

The Angel gasped and turned around. He pulled out what appeared to be a Bow, but it split into two to form swords. He floated up the road, just passing the 2 figures.

Pit:......somethings not right here.......Geno was right to worry..........I gotta tell the others....

The Angel glided past sight, into the glistening mist. The figures sneaked out of their hiding places and looked at eachother.

???:...We're busted.
???(2):2...no.....the Kid......he's going to go and tell all of those idiots to rush over to the bridge. We need to get outta sight and sneak by them while they stare at their stupid broken bridge. Once we do, we are free to do what we need to do, seeing as all of the dummies will be gaping over their idoit-built
wonder.
???:.....ah......lets get a move on.

Scene 2, Act 1.

Geno: And thats when I told her, I'm only wood lady!
??: Hahahaha. An Honest, Funny, Honerable Joke. Respectable Geno, well done.

Geno was sitting down with a mysterious figure in the middle of a bright area. There was a large Glass chandiler hanging from the stone celing, and the platform they where sitting on was surrounded by a rainbow like colored pool. The stars could be seen from outside the wall-less interior. There was several snacks on the table, and a lare box of Pizza. Geno was taking a sip out of his favorite juicebox. A large, glistening waterfall could be seen at the back of the area, blocking the way of a large acsending staircase. They where both laughing at the Joke Geno just made. Geno took another swag at his juice, and continued talking.

Geno: Ya know, its nice up here. It does
get a tad boring at times, but hey, we can see the whole world from up here, eh Mr. Knight?

Meta Knight: I assume. Guard Duty does lack luster at times, but comrades make it a tad better. Though, with the oncoming milliena, one would think we would be with our family, no?

Meta Knight picks up a bag of Fritos and begins to open it. Geno nods, and begins to talk. A Few figures could be seen floating around in the water.

Geno: Yeah, I guess. But think Meta, our jobs important. Besides, whats better? This beautiful scenery, or a bunch of fat kids running around, throwing confetti in your face?

He paused and waited for a response. Meta Knight finnaly got the bag open and was eating a few Fritos. He looked up to see Geno looking at him.

Meta Knight: Well......I suppose it isn't so bad here after all. I would much rather be on guard duty as opposed to watch over weight children slobber Pizza slices on each
other.

Geno laughed, almost falling off of the stone bench and falling into the water. Meta Knight stared at him and smiled. Geno had almost spilt his juice.

Meta Knight: Laugh all you want puppet. You know as much as I do that Pizza is a disgrace to the stars. And don't even get me started about this....Soda....

Geno picked up a large slice of Pizza off of a snack box and began eating it. Meta Knight just scoffed, showing his apparent hatred of the Saucey food. Geno looked at him and began cracking up.

Geno: hahaha!! Awww common! It's great! It's like........heaven and pepponi.

Meta Knight:.....I would dispise being an Angel in your Heaven.........large slices of meat rolling around everywhere.....

Upon hearing Meta Knights last statement, Geno fell into the water, making a small splash, sending his Pizza flying in the air. Meta Knight just laughed, bringing his hand over his eyes and leaning his
head back. Geno struggled to rise his head above water, swallowing water because he was laughing so much. Geno eventually wiggled his way out, breaching himself ontop of the platform, choking on water. Meta Knight walked over to him and poked his chest with the sheathe of Galaxia.

Meta Knight: Breathe Woody, Breathe!
Geno:.....cau.....cackl.........gah! I'm fine.......I'm...fine....

Meta Knight sighed as Geno stood up, soaking wet. Geno started shaking, attempting to rid his clothes of water. Meta Knight just shook his head and walked back over to his seat. Geno smiled and laughed, still bubbling water in his mouth.

Geno: Heh....gah........thanks.....wait....

Meta Knight:.....what?

Geno:.......wheres my Pizza?

Meta Knight:........

They both looked up, and to Meta Knights Dismay, the slice of pizza that was thrown in the air was now soaring down , straight for him. Geno laughed as it
smashed into the blue knight, covering his mask with a bunch of sauce. Meta Knight just stood there, thinking about how much he wanted to smash the box pf pizza in Geno's face.

Meta Knight:...............you........

Meta Knight started to walk to Geno, getting ready to hack him into the water. Geno Stepped back and stumbled back into the water. Seeing his watery punishment, Meta Knight calmed down, and let out a small laugh. He extended his Galaxia for Geno to Grab onto. Geno, coughing and bubbling water grabbed onto it and was fished out. He began to spit up water.

Geno:...cough cough.....cough.....ack.....stupid water.....

Meta Knight:......You should be more cautious. Puppets don't swim, Geno.

Geno:...cough.....I...cough cough....I know that.....cough cough.....

They both sit back down and begin to eat once more. Geno remains quiet while Meta knight talks about his previous battles.
However.....

Meta Knight:... And So, I brought down Galaxia with great Might...

He was interrupted. A Figure emerged from behind the water fall. Both Geno and Meta Knight stood and kneeled. The figure slowly approched them, seemingly walking on water. Meta Knight Stood Up and began to talk.

Meta Knight: Pr...Princess! What are you doing up here?
Geno:...yeah! I thought only Meta Knight, Pit and I had Guard duty.

The Figure smiled and sat down. Both men did the same, sitting opposite of her. She began to talk, her voice lovely and soothing.

???: No......I felt that at this time......it Would be best if I too joined in watch Duty. That is not a problem, is it?

Meta Knight and Geno both looked at each other, and then looked back at the "Queen".

Meta Knight: Of Course not! It would be an honour like always!
Geno: Yeah Princess Peach! But, aren't you supposed to be dropping the Koopa
Shell this Year?

Princess Peach stood up and smiled. She walked over to the water and sat on the edge of the isle. Geno leaned over and whispered to Meta Knight.

(Whispering)Geno: Is it me, or does she seem different?

(Whispering)Meta Knight: Well......her attire has definitly changed, and her overall attitude is not that of the princess we know. She is....different, to say the least.

(Whispering)Meta Knight:..........just keep an eye on her.

Princess Peach: What are you two whispering about?

She turns around to see Meta Knight and Geno leaning in close to each other. They quickely seperate and begin to whistle. Peach gives them a odd look, and Geno responds.

Geno:....it's nothing.

The Princess smiles and looks back into the water. She dips her feet in, staring at her smiling reflection. After a moment or two of thinking, she turns and begins to speak.

Princess
Peach:......I find this place to be a bit more comfortable. And Seeing as a new millenia is coming in....why not start it off feeling as good as possible?

She smiles and and brings her hand over her hair, brushing her lose hair out of her eyes. Geno stands up and and takes off his hat. He smacks it a few times, and begins to squeeze it, trying to get the water out of it. Meta Knight takes his eyes off the Princess and speaks up.

Meta Knight:.....But Princess....whos dropping the Giant Shell Dowin in The Mushroom Kingdom? Surely you found a replacement?

The Princess begins to run her fingers between her hair. She continues to smile as she speaks.

Princess Peach: Yes Meta Knight, I have. Princess Daisy Will Be covering for me. I hope my presence. is not distracting you from your duties.

Meta Knight: Why, Of course not! Nothing could distract us from our duties! It's
just.........well.........

Princess Peach:.....well?....

Geno looks at Meta Knight and laughs. He walks over to the Princess and looks down.

Geno: He's just amazed at your highnesses beauty, thats all. Now if you will excuse us, Meta Knight and I will be checking up on the Powers now.

Princess Peach: Of course. Be on your way.

She smiles and waves them off. Meta Knight is still standing still, thinking of words. Geno walks by and grabs his cape, and begins to drag him over an invisible bridge, the same bridge Peach used to cross the lake. Peach remains with her feet in the water, gently kicking as if to bring up water. She leans back and sighs.

Princess Peach: ......ah.........this water is refreshing...................hm?...

Princess Peach looks up to see A white blur comming up the large stair case. She quickly removes herself from the water and rushes over.

Peach: .....What's
going on.......what is he doing?

The white blur was Pit. He landed on a stone and began gasping for breath. Princess Peach walked him over to where the snacks where and sat him down. She offered him a Drink, but he was to exhausted to talk, let alone drink something. He gasped for air as he tried to talk.

Pit:.....br.....the.........the br.......the bri.....gah........

Princess Peach:........the what?

Pit:........bridge......ha.....

Pit lowered his face into the water and began to drink. The Princess looked at him and began to stroke his wings. One of them appeared to have cuts on it.

Pit:...ah......thank you Princess.......the Bridge......the Bridge to the 1st lake......it's crumbled.......some one's up here......

Princess Peach: What!........did you see anyone?

Pit took his head out from the water and sat down. His chest was beating heavily. He began to talk
again.

Pit:.....no....I diddn't see anyone......*gasps*.......but.....but......We..... Me and Geno.....we felt something......Princess........

Princess Peach looked deeply at Pit. She then picked him up like a baby and floated through the waterfall. The water drenched Pits wings and made them swoop. Peach's hair stuck to her back as her face remained clear of it. They rushed up the stairs, hoping the worst hasn't happened. Water gushed down the stairs, making the Princess stagger and almost drip at times. Eventually, after much climbing, she made it to the top. Nearly stumbiling, she gasps at the sight.
