LOL Okay my mood right now is probably as angry as I can get. I've been trying to get on the computer since 2am, and it took the monitor 4 hours to warm up. So it finally logs on, only for me to find out whoever shut it off last time, did it without me saving my story. I was gonna post it earlier but now I have to re-write part [1 - 2]. So after I go vent this anger I will be back to writing [1 - 2] over again.

Chapter [1 - 2]

As I mentioned earlier, it was a beautiful day. The animals of Gawston could be seen from far away, enjoying each others company while running through the meadows free to do whatever they wanted. I half wished I could be them, not knowing right from wrong without a care in the world. There were plenty of people outside enjoying the fine day; kids out running around in the sun, mothers hanging laundry on the clothes line, and men hard at work back in town. With every step I took it was as if a fresh jolt ran up my legs, pushing me to walk faster until I had reached my destination. I usually carried a walking stick with me whenever I went out, but I had decided to leave it home this time in hopes of finding a new one. Up ahead there was a big black bird circling some trees, like he was playfully stalking his prey. It must of been a game to him because I watched him circle the same two trees at least ten times before he dove down into the brush. After a quick minute he flew back up and landed on a branch high in a tree, with a rat between his beak. These simple gestures of nature always made me feel good inside, it was like a force unimaginable controlling everything around us. Knowing that one day you're alive enjoying a day as nice as this, breathing the finest air, laughing at the joys of life, and then the next day its all gone. As if taken away forcefully from an unknown source. I used to stay awake at night wondering about these kind of things, and when I asked my mother one day about it, she simply replied, "Don't waste your time away Jim." And that was the last I ever mentioned anything of that sort to my mother.

I made my way through the middle of the meadow, brushing aside the tall grass that wiped my face with each step. Now I half wished I had brought my walking stick. It would be of good use knocking things out of my way. The Meadow itself was just that, a meadow. Nothing unusual about it, nothing that would make anyone jump for joy at the thought of venturing out here. The only thing it was good for was a nice big play area for the kids. At parts it was as dry as a desert, and then as I quickly found out, there were mushy parts throughout the middle. I stepped into one of these mushy piles with a rather look of disgust on my face. The watery mud was acting like a suction cup, absorbing my foot as if trying to drag me below the dirt. I tried not to panic, quickly reaching down to try and pull myself out, but after ten very long minutes of this my foot still wouldn't budge. I would of liked to have been able to sat down right there, but the thought of my hind end getting sucked under was something I would much rather pass on. "Why didn't I bring that damn stick," I thought to myself still trying to pull out my leg. After the mud was about half way up my shin, it stopped and I felt the bottom with my foot. Still it wouldn't move, so I did the only thing I could do. Scream as loud as I can for help and hope for the best.

"HELPPPPPPP," I yelled at the top of my lungs, looking around to see if anyone could hear me. To my astonishment I heard my own echo bouncing back from the woods, which gave me hope. "HELLLPPPPPPP," I screamed again, this time only louder. The noise scarred the bird that was enjoying its meal, and he flew off high into the sky and quickly out of sight. There was no way I was going to be able to stand here like this much longer. Already my other foot was beginning to hurt something fierce and I desperately wanted to sit down. I was about to lose it, when a figure appeared from the edge of the forest, about eighty feet in front of me. But that eighty feet looked like miles.

As the figure got closer, I was astounded at what I saw. It was the girl from the docks, and she wasn't in a dress. She was wearing regular handy downs and some worn looking shoes. Her hair was in a ponytail swaying back in forth with her every move. I could see her eyes from here, green and bright like the shiniest of emeralds. Her face was a bit dirty with some patches spread about from her exploring in the woods and her pants had a rip in it that looked like it happened recently. I could see her smiling as she got next to me, that same smell that attracted so many was abundant.

"You got yourself in quite a nasty hole there," she said reaching her arm out to mine, that same beautiful smile stretched from ear to ear. I reached out and grabbed her hand hesitantly. I didn't know how she would react to this but I know how I would. Her hands were incredibly soft, even for being out in the woods. They felt like baby skin cured with the finest of oils. It was almost as if I could slide my hand down her whole arm and she wouldn't even notice a thing. "My name's Arica," she said giving my arm a bit of a yank.

I know she must of thought I looked ridiculous standing there. Out of all the people who could of been out here, it had been her. I quickly brought myself back down to Earth and looked away. I didn't want her to find my weird gazing into her eyes as if from my dreams. "My name's Jim," I replied back accepting the tug on my arm. My foot began to slide slowly from its trap making squishing noises as it came. "You don't know how happy I am right about now," I continued looking back at her. She was looking back at me, pulling my arm with all her might. She laughed a bit in a heehee manner but I took it as it was and laughed back.

"Sorry to be rude," she said covering her smile. "I am sorry for my behavior Jim, I just find it a bit funny how stuck you are out here and all. I come out here all the time and never have I gotten stuck like this."

I was a bit embarrassed I must admit, but I dug down deep to find my humorous side, and shrugged it off with a laugh. "It's okay," I said between fake chuckles. "This is my first time out this far." I don't know why, but I lied to her. I didn't want to look like an idiot in front of the girl I had watched every Friday for the past 3 years. "Yup, just came out here to explore a little...free my mind some. You know."

The wind picked up some causing her hair to fly in the wind as if dancing softly to nature's voice. She gave my arm one last tug and I felt my leg pop out of the hole. I almost fell right back into it as I tried to balance myself, nearly busting my rear on the ground below. She caught my side with her arm, helping me regain myself. "Listen Jim," she said holding me still. Her smile as bright as ever. "I got to go back home now. It is getting late and mother gets mad if I am late for supper." She let go of my side and it was as if I lost ten degrees of body heat when she did. "I'll walk with you on back to the town if ya want, and maybe we could meet up again sometime. I will show you around and make sure you don't get stuck again."

I don't know if it was her voice or not, but something about this girl made me want to just lean in and kiss her right there. I was finally free of that hole thanks to her, and it was as if I already owed her something. "You know, that sounds lovely to me," is all I could say wondering if coming out her was worth it or not. I got stuck in a hole, got embarrassed in front of my dream girl, but the good side was...at least I met her. "How about I walk you home and we can come back out her Saturday since work is Friday." I didn't want to get too courageous, but my confidence was slowly building it's way back up.

She smiled at me and did something even I didn't expect. She actually leaned in and kissed me on the cheek, it was just a peck, but at least it was something. I blushed right there on the spot, turning as red as the roses, and looked at her as she just stood there. "You are too sweet," she said grabbing my hand as she began walking back towards the town. "I know you're the boy that works at the dock," she continued as I followed her closely, carefully looking at the ground for anymore hidden sinkholes. "I watch you guys work every Friday and you never come to say anything to me."

This had caught me off guard. How was I supposed to know anything about this girl, and yet she had a point. I had to think of something quickly to say so she wouldn't notice my vulnerability here. "Oh well uhh Fridays are the long days you know, never get a break for anything." It was a sorry excuse I admit, but it was the first thing that came to my mind and I had to go with it. "A girl as beautiful as you wouldn't want to be talking with a boy like me anyways." I tried to make up for my first act, and hoped it would work a little. I watched her looking on the ground, our hands still locked together, as she smiled again.

"Well thanks Jim," she said brushing aside the grass. "But how would you know these things if you didn't at least try. I mean I am talking to you now aren't I?"

She was too smart, and she made sense with everything she said. It felt better than I would imagine just being around her. And even better, she actually kissed me and was holding my hand. I couldn't believe this, a day as bad as this turned around like that. Luck doesn't come around this often, so I was thankful it did this time.

Chapter [1 - 2] Cont.

We continued walking through the meadow, holding hands the whole way. Her smile never fading as we talked about all sorts of things. Going from topic to topic, finding out her favorite food is lamb, her favorite color is blue, and how she only wears those fancy clothes at work because her mother makes her. We continued on like this the whole way back to town until finally we had reached her house. This time I beat her to it, reaching in and kissed her on her cheek. She smiled and squeezed my hand. "Well Jim it has been a pleasure to wander into your presence today," she said. "So Friday after work I shall expect you here." I told her yes and with that she turned around and walked into her house. I could see her peeping out the window as I made my way back down the dirt path back home.

It was late by the time I got home. The sun had fallen and was replaced by a half moon. The sound of the morning animals were no more, as only the sounds of an occasional Hoot from an Owl could be heard. Oh what a good day it was though, something I would of never of thought before it happened. Being as tired as I was, I made my way into the bedroom, skipping dinner, and just sat on my bed thinking of Arica. Everything about her made me feel good inside. I flipped off my shoes and laid there, thinking of her until I had finally closed my eyes of exhaustion.

Chapter [1 - 3]

I had the strangest dream that night. I was laying down on a small tight bed in what appeared to be a dark cramped room. Nothing was out of the ordinary and everything seemed normal until I started hearing voices. They were strange voices that seemed to be coming from the corner of the room, and it scared me. The voice was a dark, raspy voice of a man. It was somewhat deep at times, and when he laughed it was a high shrilling shriek. This caused me to dive under the covers as if I thought the next instant I would be dead. At the time I had no idea I was dreaming, it seemed too real. I'm gonna get you... echoed from wall to wall. The room quickly started to spin into a spiral vortex. The bed I was on began to shake and I could hear the many objects in the room falling over and crashing on the ground. The sound of glass breaking could be heard as well as heavy furniture falling onto the floor. I tried to cover my ears, but it had no effect. "It's just a dream. This isn't real. Soon I will wake up and be in my own home...in my own comfort," I said out loud trying to calm myself down. You won't be going anywhere boy. I have you where I want you and there is nothing you can do now. Hahahahahahahahaha.

If I thought the bed shaking was rough before, it was nothing like it was now. It felt like an earthquake was hitting my room as if the source was directly under my bed. And what was even weirder was now the room stopped shaking, but the bed continued to rattle fiercely. I was getting dizzier by the second and began to feel like I was going to puke. I peaked out from under the edge of the covers at the base of the bed to see if I could spot the owner of the voice, but the room was too dark. I couldn't even see my hand in front of me. Now I had wished I had kept some candles on in my sleep, but they would of probably have fallen over in the midst of the room shaking. And at this point I don't think being caught in a room with a fire burning would be any better. Hahahahahahahahaha. That laughter was too evil. It made me shutter underneath the covers, and it felt as if the temperature in the room had dropped by at least 10 degrees. I was now shivering underneath the covers, clenching the edge of covers while holding them over my body. The same time I kept telling myself, "It's just a dream Jim...just a weird dream."

This wasn't the first weird dream of mine. I had a few before, but none could come close to how freaky this one was. It was too realistic to even consider a dream. I wanted so desperately for my mom to come shake me out of this slumber, but as hard as I wished, I knew it wouldn't happen. Hahahahaha, I got you. I got you now! There was a loud bang after that. Not the kind of bang the muskets made when the guys at the dock would fire them in celebration, but the kind of surprise bang that a Horse makes when he smacks his hoof down on something hard. Then the ceiling turned white, but only for a brief second, and I had enough time to view the room. Everything was shattered on the ground. There were a few paintings that were flipped on their back laying on the ground, some shattered glass that had fallen off the dresser, even the dresser itself had fallen over. But there was nobody else in the room, at least no one that I could see in that brief moment. And then it happened.

The loud bang was heard again, and this time, the ceiling turned black and the floor turned white. It felt as if my bed was falling into a huge hole that led no where, still thrashing about as it had been the whole time. I had to grab hold of the corner posts to keep from falling off. As I looked up, I noticed the ceiling appeared to be going further away with every second. Everything that had been on the floor was free falling below me. And then she appeared. Arica was hovering over me, taking up the whole space of the ceiling as if she were some giant over looking her doll house, and I was the doll. She pointed at me and did the most unexpected thing in the whole dream. She started to laugh at me. I was falling helplessly, and her my dream girl was, laughing at me. I admit I had dreamed of her before, but they were always good dreams. Casual walks, dinner dates, house visits, but nothing of this sort. I could see her bright white teeth as she kept laughing at me, pointing as if reaching out to touch me in humiliation as I lay there, falling into this white space. I was on the verge of crying, thinking my life was over. How could I cry in front of the girl I admired? If I thought the dream was humiliating, then this was nothing now. My head began to swell up like a watermelon. It was getting bigger and bigger until it felt like it was going to burst. I woke up.

When I had finally awaken for my horrible nightmare I was just grateful to be alive. I shot up from my pillow as if it were the end of the world, and quickly grasped the back of my head. I was sweating profusely and had the most painful migrane ever. I threw my feet over the side of my bed and sat upright, rubbing the back of my head. "What the hell just happened," I thought, feeling my shirt stick to my body from the sweat. My stomach began to churn and I realized how hungry I had actually been. I stood up still holding the back of my head, and slowly made my way down the hallway into the kitchen. The food supply was normally low considering I lived by myself and my only income was working at the docks. There was some bread I normally mixed with nutmeg which made for a great breakfast. And as always I had some milk stored away in the cold compartment, which I helped myself to a glass of. Our town had a bad harvest last season and the crop production was at about 50% of the average season. This would worry many, but it didn't really effect our town as far as going hungry, just the income as our main export was the goods we produced. Other than that our Town was normally pretty steady going.

I finished up my breakfast in about as much time as it took me to make it, and began on my morning chores. Over the past few days I either worked or had ventured outside exploring which left my house in a mess. For the most part I can say I am a neat guy and pass off on it without lying, but it wouldn't hold up here. There was a corner in my small room that was filled with a heap of clothes all scattered and jumbled about. This was something my mother normally did as my father had his job everyday and I was stuck with the "man" chores around the house. I threw the clothes into a basket and carried them outside. The sun was out and shining brightly as if it was his way of saying Good Morning. There were hardly any clouds floating around and the wind had died down from yesterday. All the flowers looked happy as they sat there enjoying the company of the Sun's rays beaming on their roots.

Lucky for me, there was a well about 30 feet from our house, which made it easier on us whenever we had to get water. It was made of dark gray bricks which stood four feet off the ground, and had a cylinder covering made of wood. I remember one day my mother had came out to get some water and nearly fell in. If it hadn't of been for my father she would of fallen the whole fifty feet down, but he instead was quick on his feet to save her and it became just a faded memory of the past. I had brought a bucket with me already filled with a soap-like substance my mom had created, and attached the end to the rope. With patience, I slowly dipped the bucket into the well, filling it with water. I pulled the bucket back up and stirred up the water to mix the soap liquid. I carried the soap-filled bucket back to my clothes basket and began washing thoroughly. After my last article of clothing was washed, all my clothes were on a line out back, drying in the sun. When I finally was able to get up and turn around, I saw Arica standing in the front yard, looking at me.

Yesterday I would of been happy to see her standing there looking at me with her beautiful blond hair, gorgeous green eyes, her nice petite body, and with the smile that could brighten even the darkest of rooms. Even the room I was in last night in my dream. But it was precisely that, the dream, that had made me think twice about my reaction to seeing her standing there. I mean before we met the other day she was exactly just that...the girl in my dreams. Then we finally met through a very odd occasion and she was the girl in my nightmare pointing and laughing at me. I couldn't help but remember the dream exactly how it happened, her beautiful face was like a metaphor of my evil, but things can be misunderstood. She must of thought it was an awkward moment, or maybe it was the look I had on my face because she started walking towards me.

"Sorry for coming over uninvited. I decided not to go to work today, I just couldn't wait to see you again," she said in an excited state while walking closer to me. Her voice snapped me out of my hex and I was brought back to earth. It was so pleasant and soothing, and reminded me of my mother's voice. "What are you doing out here?" She asked with a playful nudge on my shoulder. Great, I get a kiss on the cheek yesterday, and today it's a nudge on the shoulder.

Chapter [1 - 3] Cont.

I looked over at my clothes on the line and at the exact same time she noticed and looked over too. "Yeah, I was just out here doing laundry. You know, getting the chores done." I said calmly trying not to make anything obvious that I was just a tad bit worried. I didn't want to tell her about the dream. How would she take something like that? I wouldn't want her to get scared of me on just our second day and be known around town as the "freak down the road". "Why would you miss work to come see me? I told you I would come by when you got off." It wasn't exactly a lie. I had planned on going down there, but it had slipped into the back of my mind, way behind the dream.

She glanced down at the dirt, her cheeks turning rose red. She began to kick the dirt around with her shoes playfully as if thinking of something to say on the subject. I don't know exactly why I did it, but I instinctively put my hand up to her cheek and gave her a soft rub. Now her cheeks turned even a brighter red as she stopped kicking the dirt and looked up at me. "Well, to be honest..." she paused looking behind her suspiciously. This caught me off guard as we were the only ones around for at least half a mile. "I haven't been enjoying work lately, and something told me to come over here instead."

"Ahhhh," I suddenly yelled out grabbing the back of my hand and wincing in pain. The migraine had abruptly come back and it hurt twice as much as it did when I woke up. Arica reached out and grabbed my arm with a worried look on her face. Her touch made the pain die down. There was still a annoyance on my head but the pain was almost all gone. Needless to say, I was a bit happy for two reasons. One, I was afraid she would think I had yelled at her for some reason and she would of taken it the wrong way. And Two, she had touched my arm and the pain went away. "That was....amazing," I said startled at what had just happened. Arica looked confused and began scratching her head. "I had a migraine this morning, and it went away an hour ago, but it just came back," I was too excited and was speaking pretty fast. It didn't matter though, what just happened was the most astonishing thing I have ever experienced. "You...you touched my arm, and it went away. I mean not all the way, but all the pain is gone."

If Arica looked confused before, it was nothing to how she looked now. She looked as though I was speaking another language and she couldn't understand a word I had just said. I was standing there the whole time with the biggest smile on my face about ready to leap into her arms and kiss her again. She, on the other hand, was just standing there as if some voodoo was just performed right in front of her. I couldn't tell whether she thought it was a good thing, or if she was just absolutely dumbfounded. "Jim, I don't know what just happened, but I know I didn't do that. Whatever you claim to have happened, it was probably just coincidence."

Before I could say anything else, Arica reached in and rubbed my cheek just as I had done hers earlier, turned around, and then quickly ran away. I watched as she bolted down the hill, her legs flying high behind her. I had never seen anyone run as fast as she did, but it was a sight. I had also had half a mind to start running after her because her running away was random to me. Had I done or said something wrong? What was the cause of her running away like that? But something told me not to and the dream was still stuck in the back of my mind. "Where are you going?" I yelled as loud as I could to her, hoping she would hear me.

She didn't even turn around, but I could still hear her voice in the faint distance. "I don't know," she yelled. "Somewhere other than here." And with that she was out of my sight, leaving me standing there wondering. Wondering about her, wondering about what had just happened...wondering about the dream.
