After years of war and stress, Mushroom Kingdom began to fall apart.
The fragile heart of the economy slowly weakened due to constant war.
Soon, people became aware that Mushroom Kingdom was dying.
Most of them simply left across seas and over mountains in search of a new home some place else.
The rest couldn't afford to leave their homes in Mushroom Kingdom, so they stayed and watched as their home land fell hopelessly.
Lands surrounding Mushroom Kingdom noticed the dying economy and decided to lock their borders so no one else could get out.
Now the citizens of Mushroom Kingdom must survive long enough to find a way out of the hell hole they created...
DAY 1
It's been a day now since the borders have been locked. Luckily I've found an apartment with a cheap price that I can stay at for now. I have no food right now, I'm sure the soup kitchen is packed with starving refugees. I can wait to eat for now, food isn't my first priority. Getting out of this diseased city is. I sat on the dirty apartment bed and thought where my brother could be. Luigi couldn't have gone far. He said he'd come back if he could get his hands on some border tickets so we could get out of here. Its been almost half a day and he hasn't come back. Maybe someone simply mugged him and took the only coins we had. What if he got the tickets and decided to leave by himself. Luigi would never do that. I got up and slipped my shoes on. I picked up my cap and entered the apartment lobby. The lights were off. "Koopa?" I wondered if he left to get some food. My stomach growled.
Thinking about it will just make it worse... I left the apartment and walked towards the store. Once again, the shopkeeper had no border tickets. "I heard a few creeps up by Moonview Highway smuggled some from across the border," the old goomba exclaimed. I knew how dangerous a person must be if they smuggled something across the border. "The only other place I know where to find border tickets are Bowser's Castle. He has thousands of them saved up," he also added. Bowser. That old koopa failed years ago, but still manages to run a small army to do his deeds. I thought to myself for a second. Are those smugglers more dangerous then Bowser? If so, it'd take forever to travel all the way to Bowser's Castle. And what if Luigi comes back with a pair of tickets? I left the shop wondering which I should do. I walked over to the deli and noticed it was closed. The sun was close to being down, and Luigi still wasn't back. I got worried. A few hours past as I walked through the city asking people if they knew where to get any border tickets. They all had the same answers. Bowser or those smugglers. I guessed it was around midnight. I headed back to my apartment. The door was already open. No lights were on. I shouted out for Koopa's name almost 10 times. No response. I tried to get into the backroom but it was locked.
Maybe he's just out for the night. I climbed upstairs and reached my room, where I slept peacefully for the rest of the night...
DAY 2
I woke up to the sound of a man walking in the lobby. Throwing on my cap and gloves, I trotted downstairs. I saw Koopa and asked him why he wasn't here last night. "I tried getting some grub from the soup kitchen, but there was none left when I got to the front." Koopa was an old turtle, always trying to a low lifestyle. I walked outside and looked for the sun. I guessed it was around 9:00 am. Then I remembered. Luigi. He still hadn't come back. I got nervous and started pacing back and forth.
Where was he? The ticket station is only a few blocks away. I darted down Cheep-cheep Lane and headed for the station. Like always, it was packed full. I searched for an hour looking for Luigi in the large building, but had no luck. I asked everyone I saw if they knew where a man in green was. No luck. During my conversation with a goomba, a hooded koopa came up to me and interrupted. "A man in green, you say? Last time I saw a lad wearing green was yesterday; he had headed out towards Moonview Highway." Then I knew what Luigi was doing. He was gonna try to buy the tickets from the smugglers the shopkeeper was talking about. I thanked the koopa and darted off. After an hour, I reached the edge of the inner city and onto Moonview Highway. The street was packed with refugees trying to find a place to stay. I made my way through the crowd and kept my eye out for two goons. I spent almost an hour walking around the long highway in hopes finding the smugglers.
What was I thinking. They're smugglers. They're not just gonna stand out in the middle of a highway and try to sell illegal tickets. The sun was starting fall. I guessed it was about 5:00 pm. My stomach growled once again. I was sitting in an ally when I noticed a small rusty warp pipe in the back corner. I walked over to it and noticed a sign next to it. Dust covered the sign making it impossible to read. The only words I saw were
business and
boss. I thought to myself for a second.
Maybe the smugglers are in a business of smuggling things. The pipe was blocked up with ply wood. I simply jumped on it and loosened the nails, making it possible to rip off. I forced the wood off and looked in the warp pipe. In my years of traveling through pipes, this one has got to be the longest. The thought of what dangers could lurk at the end of the pipe scared me, but thinking of Luigi made me only want to do it more. Just as I got my feet set to jump in, a figure covered my sight and started tying me up. I tried to fight, but a force from nowhere drained my energy.
Luigi, wh- where are you...
