Chapter 1
"Get up, son. Today is a big day for the Koopa Family!" Bowser announced triumphantly as he burst into Bowser Jr.'s room within his castle. "The day is just starting, my son, and today take my plan into action and finally destroy Mario. Today is the day we overthrow Mushroom Kingdom and rule it ourselves!" Bowser laughed evilly as he was so accustomed to doing when feeling pleased with his schemes.
Bowser Jr. rose from his bed and rubbed his beady eyes, "Huh.. Uh.." he held his arm up to shield the sun piercing through the window, something that could only bother him if he was up at the crack of dawn. "
Too early..." he thought to himself and plopped back on his back.
Bowser became extremely impatient and scoffed as fire escaped from his nostrils. "Hey!" he barked, "get up, kid. No Bowser here is gonna waste his time in bed if there's evil work to be done. You should be excited! Today is the day where you once again get to join your father in his nefarious plans!" Bowser closed his eyes and bellowed mightily to the point where his laughter echoed throughout the castle. Every koopa, goomba, kamek, and minion of Bowser moaned in unison, knowing the long, grueling day it is when Bowser begins a new plan.
By the time Bowser was finished basking in his self-bestowed glory, he looked down to see Bowser Jr. standing before him. Bowser Jr. had already affixed his shell upon his back and rubbed his eyes again to make sure he wasn't sleep walking.
Bowser smacked the top of his son's shell and laugh heartily as the two made their way down the many corridors and staircases of Bowser's castle. Bowser Jr. yawned as he saw the many minions of Bowser scurry around as to prepare for Bowser's glorious victory that everyone had been waiting years for. Through certain corridors, Bowser Jr. could not help but grimace from the horrible feel of skid marks and the smell of burnt rubber left by races held within the castle. Bowser Jr. never thought it made much sense to invite longtime enemies to race and have fun in their castle, but he never really questioned it since he figured father knows best.
Bowser Jr. was clearly not as excited as his dad was in regards to the plan, as it wasn't the first time he had been dragged along. But, of course, Bowser Jr. loved being included with his dad, but after the amazing failure that was the trip to Delfino, his hopes were not very high. The two had walked through the castle until coming up to a large canon attached to a slim window of the castle, just large enough to allow for the cannon to fire in a small variety of directions.
"My son," Bowser stated calmly as he looked out the window, "as I kidnap Princess Peach and lead her here, I will count on you to blast those plumbing fools with this cannon. Obviously not the most detailed plan my team has come up with so far, but the budget is tight after the Delfino disaster, so we have to cut back spending. However! The cannon is meant to fire a laser that is meant to turn its victims into useless goomba slaves, equipped to do my bidding on command! And you, Bowser Jr., shall be the one to not only destroy Mario and those wretched fools, but force them to follow our every whim as we take over the Mushroom Kingdom!"
Bowser smiled, pleased with himself as Bowser Jr. sat himself in the firing position and waited, peering out the window. Although the Delfino plan was discouraging, he still wanted to have a bigger role than this one-job deal. Bowser nodded to his son and left, off to hold up his end of the bargain.
Hours passed, and Bowser Jr.'s stomach growled. He had memorized all of the timed beeps and flashes at the cannon's control panel, and his newly-realized boredom made him whimper in an undeniable hunger. As he contemplated going off to get food, he heard a rustling from the forest out in the distance of where his cannon was pointed.
As he looked through the scope of the cannon toward the forest, he saw goombas and kameks racing back toward the castle, waving their arms as they screamed in terror. Bowser Jr. watched as he saw Bowser crawling back towards the castle, covered in soot as his clown car dragged behind him, reduced to nothing but smoldering wreckage. The closer Bowser and his minions got to the castle, the louder the cheers from Mushroom Kingdom were as Bowser Jr. could not help but ignore the fact that his father had been defeated again.
Bowser Jr. sighed, not being able to try out his new weapon against the evil Mario. Though, as depressing as Bowser Jr.'s role in his father's defeat was, it was even more disheartening that his father constantly came back to the castle battered, bruised, and defeated.
