Chapter 11

Bowser raced into the forest and the flames forced him to draw back. He stared on in desperation, hoping to not see his son lost in the ferocious fire that was eating the forest away with every second. Luckily, on had come Mario and Luigi, following the original party that had chased Bowser Jr. through the forest. The two were equipped with F.L.U.D.D.s, and they eventually doused the flames at the price of almost half the forest.

As the smoldering wreckage cooled, Bowser raced up to the fallen tree trunks and debris and shoved them aside. Bowser's hands burned as he touched the recently-flaming wreckage, but he continued to worry more and more and he tossed aside the clutter and searched for his son. The crowd that had miraculously gone unharmed watched as the mighty, fierce Bowser was breathing heavy, eyes darting as he hoped not to find what he was looking for. After intense searching, and no results found, Bowser reared his head towards the group from Mushroom Kingdom.

"Where is he!?" Bowser demanded, in a voice menacing enough to send a chill down the spine of the heroic plumbers themselves. "Come on, someone tell me! Now!" he shouted, and no one had the nerve to speak up.

Bowser approached the crowd, each step causing a tiny ripple in the ground that continued to shake the fear of the group he stared down. He moved in closer and closer until the only thing between him and the crowd of doomed Kingdom-dwellers was Mario and his extended palm.

Mario looked on at Bowser with an intense scowl, and Bowser was both stunned and enraged at Mario's defiance. He raised his hand to strike Mario down, but was interrupted.

"Stop." the mysterious voice that had followed Bowser Jr. had returned to the area, invisibly floating above the smoldering wreckage of the fire he had created. "Bowser, you've always been so quick to use your force. What a shame. It's too bad your son is the exact same way. I guess the saying is true, heh heh.."

"Huh? Who are you? Where are you?!" Bowser questioned. He was never a fan of mind games, and this one had pushed him far over the edge of sanity. Bowser's eyes became red as he looked to see any resemblance of someone that may be talking to him. "Well!? Where are you? Where is Bowser Jr.?" he cried.

"What do you mean, where is he? He's back at home like a good little boy, hehehe.." the voice chuckled, "Just like you raised him. Oh, but don't worry. He's not as fat and lazy as you, I've trained him well...haha, ciao." The voice bid goodbye as it faded away, leading back towards Bowser's Castle.

In an instant, Bowser was racing back towards his abode, praying his son was unharmed. Meanwhile, Bowser Jr. had Peach tied up and held captive in Bowser's throne room.

"Ahh, very well done.." the voice said to Bowser Jr. as he appeared to him for the first time. "For someone as stupid as your father is, I didn't think you'd have done so well with your end of the deal." the figure said.

"Wha? what are you talking about?" Bowser Jr. replied, clearly confused.

"Kekeke, you never were a quick one though. What a shame. Your end of the deal was getting those Mario fools over here, and with the power I gave you, you did quite well. Such a good candidate, too, let me just applaud you for that."

"I dont understand.." Bowser Jr. echoed, needing an explanation.

The man before him sighed, "Well, you being young meant your emotions would sometimes go out of control. The magic I gave you in the paintbrush reacted to go into effect once your emotions clouded your better judgment. I admit you got a few pushes in the right direction from me, but overall, I'd give ya a B plus, hahaha." the voice continued, "But now, your dad is coming to mess everything up, so I'm taking center stage in this magic show!"

The man walked up to Bowser Jr., smiled, and put his hand on Bowser Jr.'s shoulder. "Get ready for some exciting fireworks!" he said as his hand seemed to fade into Bowser Jr.'s shoulder. Bowser Jr. tried to move away, but his former guide seemed to be dissolving into his body. Once the man was gone, Bowser Jr. fell to his knees, his head throbbing in pain as the man attempted to take control over his actions.

Chapter 12

Bowser barged in through the throne room doors and looked down the enormous hall to see his son on the ground at the foot of his own throne. "Junior!" he cried as he raced towards his son's side. Once he was halfway down the large red carpet, his son rose to his feet. Bowser looked on to see Bowser Jr.'s eyes emit a dark purple glow.

"J-junior...?" Bowser asked as the rest of the Mushroom Kingdom crew and Bowser's Minions flooded the throne room, watching the scene unfold.

Bowser Jr. silently brushed himself off, picked up his paintbrush, and pointed it towards his dad.

"Junior? Heh, I don't think so.." Bowser Jr.'s voice had become distorted and deeper than it's usual, friendly tone.

"What? What are you talking about, son? Where have you been? I've been worried about you.." Bowser admitted, not one to usually admit to his emotional flaws.

"I've been steps ahead of you, Dad. I started the day and didn't screw around. You always cut back and take things easy, but you never reach your goal. I've been out accomplishing what you never could through some actual hard work."

Bowser couldn't believe the nonsense his son was saying. His flesh and blood stood before him and mocked his life's work. Bowser Jr. had looked in his father's eyes, and disgraced his dreams.

"Grr..What are you saying, Junior? You've never been like this. What's wrong with you?" Bowser asked, almost embarrassed at the scene taking place.

Bowser Jr. stepped toward his father, still pointing the paintbrush at him, "I'm sick of your failure, Dad. I can't take seeing you disgrace OUR name, OUR castle like you do so many times. It's time I took charge and did things myself! You had enough time, and now, in one try, I'm closer than you ever have been to claiming the entire kingdom!" Bowser Jr.'s eyes were fixated at his father's blank, nervous reaction.

Bowser stepped back with each inch his son made toward him, scared of a darker side he had never seen before. His pride had been crushed by the son he loved, and he replied quietly, "Wh-what..How are you saying this, Junior..?"

"Bah! Enough with the junior. You're washed up, old man. I am the real villain here, I am Bowser." Bowser Jr. replied, standing in front of his father and looking up at him without fear.

Bowser looked away and tried to fight back the desire to strike this new enemy, "I'm not going to fight you, son.." he said, as he could not bear to look down into his son's beady purple eyes.

"Then get out of my way. Don't slow me down, you pushover. This is my journey, and you will not keep me from success." Bowser Jr. stepped back and raised his paintbrush, ready to attack.

Bowser raised his arms and crossed them to shield his eyes as he braced for impact, and in that pose, he was turned to stone.

The crowd that had witnessed this changing of the guard gasped collectively as Bowser Jr. had shamed his dad and completely changed his normally friendly character.

Bowser Jr. pushed the statue of his dad over onto it's side, and with a crushing boom, it hit the floor and raised a cloud of dust and light fog. Bowser Jr. cut through the cloud with his paintbrush, and pointed Mario out of the crowd.

"Well, Mario! I'm bigger, I'm stronger, and I'm going to destroy you." Bowser Jr. stated as fact, sure of his imminent victory.

Chapter 13

Mario tightened his cap and stepped forward. "Mario, stop!" Daisy called out.

Mario stopped and looked over his shoulder. "...be careful, okay?" Daisy said, concerned. "Luigi, go help him!" she ordered as Luigi cowered out of the crowd to his brother's side.

"Baahahaha, Perfect, two for the price of one, huh? Bring it on, brothers." Bowser Jr. finished and grinned, showing a set of teeth no one had ever seen from him before. The teeth were sharp and menacing, and were a perfect sign of Bowser Jr. crossing the threshold into the realm of a truly evil villain.

"I-I got your back, bro!" Luigi assured Mario as the two stormed at the villain. A fight had ensued as Bowser Jr sent paint in all directions, attempting to get the brothers off his back. The crowd observed in awe as Mario and Luigi used impressive acrobatics to dodge a multitude of Bowser Jr. attacks and projectiles. The fighting had continued for a short while until Bowser Jr. began to sloppily stumble in some of his movements. It was apparent he was getting tired and couldn't keep up with the agile Mario Bros.

Bowser Jr. kept his eyes on his foes as he stepped backwards onto the red carpet of the throne room and stumbled over the statue of his fallen father. Bowser Jr. fell backwards onto his shell, and Mario immediately raced in and kicked the paintbrush across the room. Bowser Jr. rolled backwards into an opening and was immediately back on his feet. Bowser Jr. stopped for a bit as the crowd watched the three fighters with anticipation. Mario stood in a fighter's stance, ready to rumble yet again. He had some noticeable scars from Bowser Jr.'s claws, but Luigi remained unharmed as he mostly hid behind a pillar and watched his heroic brother handle the beast alone.

As ready as Mario was, he could not attack Bowser Jr. Mario watched as the little bowser stood with a blank stare, and after some hesitation, began to shriek loudly.

Mario covered his ears as the crowd ducked for safety and watched as a purple cloud rose from Bowser Jr. and formed the figure the Mushroom Kingdom group had seen when they chased Bowser Jr. through the forest.

The figure floated above Bowser Jr., who had now fallen onto his back and moaned, not knowing where he was. Mario and Luigi looked on, and Luigi immediately came out from his cowardly hiding spot to his brother's side.

"Dimentio!" Luigi cried out as he pointed toward the same jester that had previous tried to not only destroy Mushroom Kingdom, but all worlds in existence.

"Heh heh heh, happy to see me, Mr. L? How have we been, hmm? Have you enjoyed the show so far? Some pretty gripping stuff from the two turtles here, I must say." Dimentio spoke calmly, very pleased with his work.

"It's good that you guys are here, really. You've put on a great show, so far. And now, I can eradicate you and destroy every world that is meaningless to me." he added, "I hope you're prepared for some of the greatest magic you've ever seen! And it begins now!"

"...Ciao." Dimentio finished and snapped his fingers, causing for the throne room to go pitch black. The crowd yelled in fear, hiding cowardly in hope that Dimentio would spare their lives. Mario looked through the darkness to see the bright yellow glow of Dimentio's left eye.

Mario raced toward where he believed Dimentio would be, and he shot a fireball to dimly illuminate the room long enough to find his target. Mario chased Dimentio as he floated around the room, laughing menacingly. Once Mario finally connected an attack, the battle had begun, and the duo traded blows within the empty darkness.

The sounds of the match echoed through the throne room, as no one else dared make a sound. Bowser Jr., finally arising from his defeated state, looked through the darkness and became greatly disoriented. He crawled around slowly and felt the shaft of the Magic Paintbrush as it rested against a wall. Bowser Jr. faintly remembered what Dimentio had told him before his mind blanked, and he touched the brush with his fear and worry for the situation guided him. Upon touching the paintbrush, the paint on it's tip sparked a light that could not be ignored by anyone else in the giant chamber.

Dimentio and Mario stopped and looked over as Bowser Jr., tiredly and pathetically, rose to his feet.

Chapter 14

"Hey! Stay down, kid. If you don't want to die, you will stay out of the way!" Dimentio ordered, hoping to force Bowser Jr. to recoil back into a frightened state.

However, Bowser Jr.'s emotions caused the paint to become increasingly brighter with each second, clearly identifying each figure that was still inside the throne room.

Dimentio and Mario raised their arms to shield the blinding light, and Bowser Jr. scanned the room before noticing the large statue tossed onto its side across the room.

"D-dad? Poppa?" Bowser Jr. said to himself, and he stumbled over to see the statue was in the form of his dad, bracing for impact from an on-coming attack.

"Dad!!" Bowser Jr. was stunned as he knelt down before the statue and looked it over. "I-I must have done this to you. This brush did this..."

"This..This was your fault! This is your magic!" Bowser Jr. turned around and glared at his nemesis. "You caused all this, and you used me..." Bowser Jr. became more saddened by the realizations he was making as to why this destruction had occurred.

"Hahaha, well, what can I say, kid? I didn't think you would be so stupid and easy to manipulate." Dimentio laughed at this plan coming together.

"Sure, it's been dirty work at this stage, but in order to get here, you played the part pretty well. What would I do without ya?" he asked, sarcastically. "Now, back to business.." Dimentio turned to face Mario, who had vanished.

"Oh, now look what you did, kid. I lost him. Put out that light!" he turned towards Bowser Jr. who had now leaped towards him.

Bowser Jr. swiped with his paintbrush, and the paint simply went through Dimentio's body. Dimentio erupted with evil chuckles and laughter.

"Don't be so dumb, kid. You got that power from MY magic. You think I didn't prepare for this? All real magicians make sure to think ahead!" Dimentio applauded himself for his preparation and cunning.

Dimentio floated down to the floor where Bowser Jr. had taken a hard fall. He looked down at the pathetic turtle and waited for Bowser Jr. to lift his head up from the red carpet.

Bowser Jr. looked up to see Dimentio shoot a magic blast at him to force him backwards, colliding with the statue of his dad. As Bowser Jr. ricocheted off the statue, an item fell from his shell and dropped before his dad. After the collision, Bowser Jr. dropped the paintbrush, causing for the room to immediately return to its pitch black state. As the paintbrush barreled to the ground, a dab of paint flew from the brush tip and landed on the Bowser statue. Immediately, the paint began to expand and cover the statue, slowly causing for Bowser to return back to the healthy being he once was.

Very slowly, Bowser lifted himself to his feet amongst the booming sounds of the clashing attacks Dimentio and Mario had exchanged. Bowser shook his head and shifted his foot, only to feel it knock against Bowser Jr.'s magic paintbrush.

Bowser picked up the paintbrush, and tried to see if his son was nearby. He looked around, and heard faint whines over the clashing of the two fighters in the dark void. The whines became screams as they echoed in Bowser's ears, and he immediately recognized the original voice of his beloved son.

"J-junior?" he asked quietly into the darkness, and the paint on the brush tip began to glow dimly from Bowser's worry and curiosity. As, Bowser looked over at the dim light of the brush, the item that had dropped from Bowser Jr. had caught his eye. Bowser reached down and picked up the item, analyzing it by the glow emitting from the brush tip.

Bowser's mouth hung open in shock as he looked down at a photo of himself and his son, posing as a loving father and son would during their first bonding experience. It was the very picture he had given to Bowser Jr. that he knew his son cherished with his life. As Bowser began to worry more and sadness overtook him, the paintbrush's glow became a tad more noticeable. It lit his path enough to reflect off the tiny spikes in the back of Bowser Jr's shell that was now riddled with cuts and scratches. Bowser immediately noticed his son in distress and ran over to him.

Chapter 15

Bowser knelt down above his son, and the glow from the paintbrush lit the two as they conversed, surrounded by a looming, dark abyss.

"S-son? Are you okay? I'll get you out of here, Junior. I'll get you all better." Bowser promised, looking down at this bruised offspring.

"Poppa, I'm sorry..i was just trying to make you proud. I wanted to help you.." Bowser Jr. admitted, and the kid inside him could not help but choke up, "I'm sorry, dad.. I messed up, bad.."

"No, no, son! You did great, you'll be okay. I'll take care of you, and we'll be perfectly fine. Just rest a while.." Bowser assured his son's safety, and as his son nodded and passed out where he lay. Bowser rose back to his feet and turned his back on his fallen flesh and blood.

Bowser's anger had escalated even further, and the paintbrush had illuminated the room to a point where every dark corner became filled with a bright, shinning aura.

As brightly distracting as the room was, Bowser fixed an intense glare at Dimentio, who had not only betrayed his son, but also physically hurt him.

"Haha, oh get over yourself, Bowser. You're washed up, old man." Dimentio laughed, repeating the words Bowser's son had used earlier that night.

Bowser hoisted the paintbrush upward and brought it down, snapping it over his knee. He quickly tossed both sides in opposite directions and looked over at Mario: "Mario. Take Junior and everyone leave. I'm taking back what's mine." Bowser ordered as Mario was now scared at the magnitude of anger Bowser was putting forth.

Mario quickly ran over and picked up Bowser Jr. He turned and nodded to Bowser as he hurried Bowser Jr. out of the throne room, ushering the crowd and Luigi out of the castle altogether. Once the entire crowd of spectators was out of the castle, they heard a vicious roar that shook the very ground and Earth at its core. The roar echoed through the air, causing for the Mushroom Kingdom dwellers to turn back toward the castle and see as Bowser's throne room crumbled before their very eyes. They peered into the distance to see Dimentio backing away as Bowser forced pillars of lava to raise on command and propel towards their target.

"You act like your magic is so great, your ridiculous tricks and gags. You try to trick my son with power, but you have no idea what power is!" Bowser furiously roared so loud that Dimentio himself was visibly worried about the consequences of his actions. He barely avoided an onslaught of lava and fire sent forth from the mere push of Bowser's arms.

Dimentio barely found a way to escape these attacks, and the longer he lasted in the fight, the stronger and more reckless Bowser's barrage became.

"You can try and hurt me all you want, but once you lay a hand on my son, I promise to make sure you pay for your mistakes!" Bowser announced, almost heroically.

"Okay, okay take it easy!" Dimentio pleaded, "I got it, I got it!"

Bowser planted his feet firmly in the ground and raised his hands, his eyes glowing with red fire. As his arms outstretched toward the full moon, cracks in the ground below formed and expanded. Pillars of lava and boulders raised up and chased Dimentio as he floated around just enough to dodge the attacks. Bowser sent a mighty wave of rocks and fire toward Dimentio, and sprinted toward his enemy, following his attack.

Dimentio ducked under a boulder and looked to his side to see Bowser sliding into position to swipe at Dimentio with his massive claw. As he struck the jester, Dimentio flew down into a crack in the ground, catching the edge with an extended hand. He looked up to see Bowser peering down at him, still ready to pay Dimentio back for the pain caused to Bowser Jr.

Bowser was set to send Dimentio into the pit of flames, as Dimentio pleaded for forgiveness. Bowser prepared the final stomp onto Dimentio's hand, when the pack of spectators from the Mushroom Kingdom came rushing onto the scene.

"Bowser, Bowser wait!" Peach called out as she waved and ran towards the reptile. "Hold on!"

Chapter 16

The crowd ran up to Bowser as he looked at the group that gathered around him and Dimentio, who was struggling to raise himself up from the hole in the ground.

"We've got someone here who wants to help you, boss!" a hammer bro shouted, and the crowd split to show Bowser Jr. creeping forward towards his dad, badly injured as he was.

Bowser smiled as his son showed pure determination in coming back to help his dad.

"I wanna defeat the villain with you, poppa. We're a team!" he smiled tiredly, and Bowser's anger had immediately vanished.

"It's all yours, son.." Bowser smiled as he stepped back, and Bowser Jr. walked up to the crack weakly, and looked down to see Dimentio hanging from the edge, unable to gain the power to float to freedom.

Bowser Jr. grinned downward as Dimentio begged and pleaded for mercy. Bowser Jr. reared his head back, and roared down into the face of the one that had betrayed him. The roar was obviously not matching of Bowser's, but it was surprising enough to make Bowser a very proud dad.

At the end of Bowser Jr.'s roar, he released a breath of fire that singed the hand of Dimentio, forcing him to lose his grip and plummet toward the lava below. As he fell downward, the crack sealed, shutting the evil that threatened the world away for a long time.

The spectators cheered wildly for Bowser Jr., and Bowser hoisted his son onto his shoulder and led a cheer for the brave soldier that had faced evil and defeated it.

Though Princess Peach was kidnapped, the Mushroom Kingdom family had no problem helping Bowser rebuild the castle from the destruction that had taken place. Bowser really didn't mind the fact that his castle suffered great damages, since he and his son were back to the relationship that bonded them since Bowser Jr.'s birth. Bowser may continuously fail to capture the Princess and overthrow the Mushroom Kingdom, but it had been apparent to all the onlookers that the power of family is a strength that cannot be defeated.

Once the castle was completed, Bowser personally thanked each of his former enemies that had come to fight by his side and helped rebuild what was lost. "Oh, and don't think this is going to change things between us, Mario." Bowser added, "One day, Junior and I will destroy you, and our goal will be realized!"

Bowser laughed to himself and Bowser Jr. cheered, "That's my dad!" he clamored, cheering wildly for the future plans and schemes he and his dad could cook up.

"Haha, oh Bowser, you can try to bring down the Mushroom Kingdom, but I guarantee you will fail!" Peach winked and smiled, as the Mushroom Kingdom gang made their way back through the forest and to the safety of their own home.

As the future months passed, Bowser and his son formulated plans, created schemes, and produced evil strategies. Though the father and son would always fail, they had each other, and as cheesy as it was, they couldn't be happier.

The End

And the surprise will be revealed soon.
