A Stock is a High Quality Image of a Person or an Animal.. It could also be a HD Video Game stock.
A Render is an Image with a Transparent Background. It can't be usually tell by sight, so you have to drag the image around.. another thing is that it is PNG.

Stocks arent transparent... renders are.
Example: you make a green background and put a stock over it that has a white background.... its not a render ><
