Ok... I've been trying to add new fonts to Gimp, but once i open up Gimp, the fonts i want won't show up. I went to my local disk-> Windows-> FOnts and added them to there but it won't work! I went to Control panel too and it won't work. So can someone plaease help me! I'm sick of the standard fonts that i have to keep using!!

they're probably in a zipped foler, unzip the files

Now, right click and extract and you will get a folder. click in the folder and there will be the file of the font. go to Start>control panel>fonts. now get the font file out next to the font from control panel and drag the font into the control panel fonts. then refresh gimp.
Also if you do have rarlab and have already extracted them and put them in control panel fonts tell me and i can help out some more.

THe files are shown as .ttf. I put them in from control panel and from the local disk but it just won't work!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

Were the files in a .Rar or .Zip Files?

Did you try to extract them? If not, then that's the problem.. You have to extract font files or otherwise.. they won't work. After that, Copy the font files and paste them to the Fonts folder.

Hopefully this leads to a solution.

I did extract the files and they came out as .ttf
I pasted the file into the font folder but it just won't work!

thats odd guess its certain type of font file
