I didn't know that they are banned from most tourneys too.... I don't get it either, it's not hard for you to use them against own Samus if you're a better player, they don't give a unfair advantage to either players (and if someone is using ZZS on a tourney he could at least be able to use the armor parts, she isn't one of the best characters out there even with those items)
Anyway I agree with banning Distant Planet. I was just doubting the legality of Castle Siege and Port Town Aero Drive. I understand Castle Siege being a counterpick now, but I still think that Port Town should be banned, the cars and moving parts can change the result of a match drastically.

Well, they don't ban items at 'every' tournament. In fact, there are even item tournaments too. But in Brawl, I'm pretty sure even you'd agree that the items are a bit overpowered. Peach's turnips aren't near as powerful as Zero Suit Samus' Power Suit leftovers.
Well, think about it this way. In Melee, Mute City, most of the time, was allowed as a counterpick. Brinstar too. If Brinstar and Mute City were counterpicks, why not Port Town? o.o I mean, except for the cars, it's like Delfino Plaza.
