Mature Discussion of the Week No. 1

The Universe

I beg all who wish to participate in this thread to watch this video all the way through:

So let's discuss on the huge size of the Universe and whether or not it contains life etc. We can also chat about the fears and/or joys of what the universe holds and even whether that video opened your eyes to anything!

I've seen this before. This motivates me of majoring in the Astronomy field. I think it's so cool of what the Universe beholds.

Now that i believe most of you have had time to watch the video, may i open the discussion by saying 'wow', I mean i knew the universe was massive and i thought i had an idea of the size. But that video slapped me in the face, we are so small how can we be the only living 'intelligent' people in this huge universe.

The universe is one of the most fascinating subjects. It's so large that it's beyond human imagination. Our beloved earth is no more then a piece of dust in the universe.

Therefore I believe that there must be live out their somewhere. It's nearly impossible that there isn't some sort of other form of live because of the ridiculous hughness of the universe.

76 billion lightyears is a distance so huge that, in my mind, it makes even eternity seem insignificant. It is also nice to see the countless wonders that the universe holds, for a huge amount of space, even though it may take a very long time, increases the chances of finding other intelligent life that co-exists with us unkowingly.

Exactly, I eman even if there is life with the massiveness of the universe what are the chances of us ever finding it, or them finding us! its unbelievable!

In this video, there's a comparison between the planets and stars known to man. It just utterly amazing. I'm still speechless.
