^ I made an essay regarding this very issue months ago. And as some of you may know, I have subjected myself to hypocrisy and demonstrated this over the past few days with somebody and their art. I almost, will, or probably already did cause them to give up art FOR LIFE or a very long time because of something stupid I said. It reminded me of the reason I never go out of my way to insult somebody, even a little, to begin with. Because I genuinely respect the person, the appology came through, and the person can probably move on without being as affected as I would've caused had I not appologized.

I noticed, too, that the people around here who're disrespected, it's either because of a SHALLOW reason such as bad grammar, or it's because somebody pulled punches first and probably should've expected to be disrespected back. An eye for an eye never works. If somebody calls you names or insults, internet or not, you DO NOT call names back or throw any punches in return. That gets you disrespect.

I don't have any forum enemies because I don't do stupid things and insult people. If you insult one person in a public forum where ALL comments you make are permanent (especially if quoted), lots of other people are going to have less respect for you.

A lot of people disrespect because it's cooler and get's you more accepted by the cool crowd than respect. But, respect earns you quality friends, and more of them in the long run than a disrespectful person does in the short term.

I spoke this because it's a disturbing trend here and other places as well.
People don't realize how damaging it can effect them in real life just because words spoken over the internet. People have killed themselves and others just because what someone said. Thus why I always talk like I am in front of that person and treat them like they are human beings and not like some dog on the street.

I am not trying to change anyone views on the matter I am just wondering to the people that do it why because you wouldn't want to be treated like trash would you.

I respect those who respect others and myself.
If others can't do that then I don't have respect for that person really...

I would have to agree that people on this forum are very disrespectful towards others.
For shallow reasons such as bad grammar,
a thread had already been made or because they say something someone didn't like.
Youtube is the worst, people make videos for fun and get flamed for it,
and there are so many pointless arguments...
Its because in real life we have the consequences and have to deal with them.
As for the internet, they can do whatever they please and get away with it with no regards to the other person.

Exactly. I have been brought up being to told to
treat others the way you want to be treated, and I have been.
