Crazy, Stupid, Day

Posted 02-04-2012 at 12:46 AM by Ray the Ruler

Well it started off pretty crazy; even though I left the house a bit late, I made it to school just in time by taking one of the rare preferable parking spots. My 2nd class was cancelled (#2 on the crazy board) so I went onto a school com and told Cookeh to go to school (like a good parent). Whilst completely forgetting I had a midterm in the next class until 10 mins prior (crazy point #3). Sitting down for my Midterm, I heard the recognizable buzz of my cell phone; I never get texts in school unless its an emergency (#4). So getting back to my car after call, I checked the message and discovered it was from my Mom, who wanted me to call her when I got home. My immediate thought was that something serious had happened. Getting home, the phone rang as I walked through the door; I nervously answered. Turns out it wasn't a family emergency, thank goodness; instead it was an invitation to come home early to go see Jerry Seinfeld, who was performing at the local stadium. I had a lab at 2:30 but I was certain it would be pretty short so I accepted the offer (#5 x 1000).

I packed the car and headed to my lab; sadly I arrived 1 minute late and the door was already closed. I looked through the window and saw that the TA seemed to be talking so I waited outside a couple minutes before entering. So I'm 5 minutes late for the lab or so, I paired up with a girl who didn't have a partner and read through the sheets explaining the material of the lab. On the back of the last page was the only exercise that needed to be done. It wasn't even something that could be graded or passed in; I'm talking a task that an Elementary student would be able to perform in 10-20 mins. So, believe it or not, I was done a university lab in half an hour and a good portion of that was reading and waiting (#6). So I get back to my car thinking, "how am I going to explain to my mom how my lab was that dang short?" but little did I know this would be the least of my troubles.

So I'm driving along, fairly routine; I've driven home numerous times this year. Within 2 kilometres of my Exit, a white car was merging over; I decided to do the nice thing and pull into the left lane to give him room to get up to speed. He obviously did not need this help as I couldn't gain any ground on him... going 120km/h... on a 110km/h highway, jerk. I felt like I was a bit too close to him to shift back to the right lane but before I could slow down two bozos came up behind me, one in the right lane and the other behind me in the left. So now I was pretty much screwed, so my best idea was to speed up and pass the white car. I got to 130km/h and didn't even gain an inch on him, douche. So now my only option is to shift into the right lane and then immediately into the exit, even though I was still dangerously close to the white car and the truck behind me was gaining speed. Just as I was about to hit the right turn blinker *rage building*, that truck behind me shifted into the right lane to take the exit... So that was that, I got royally screwed (#7 x 10000). So I swore a couple times and then turned my thoughts to taking the next available exit. 15-20 minutes later, spending a good portion of that time swearing and yelling profusely; I came to an exit. At that point I assumed it was pointless to go back and I might as well keep going until I hit a definitive exit leading to a place I knew. After another 15-20 minutes of nothing and random places I've never heard of, I finally came across an exit towards a moderately sized town within reasonable distance of my home city (most important part is that I know where the hell it is).

So obviously I took that exit, and ended up on a road heading in the right direction but still 45 km's outside the town that's 60 km's from my home, yay...(approx an hour away, for those confused by kilometres) And the best part, the pointer on the gas gauge was falling closer and closer to that E. So about 35 km later, I came across a gas station and pulled in at the pump. To give you an idea of the rurality/oddity of the area, in the pump directly in front of mine was a snow-mobile, yes a snow-mobile (#7.5). Going inside to pay for my gas, I noticed the clerk was a cute young lady; could've charmed her into a date but didn't feel like making 45 minute drives just for that. So the rest of the journey went without a hitch and I was finally home, an hour late.

But of course the story doesn't end there, after dinner I drove myself and my younger brother down to the Stadium to see Seinfeld; overall it was a great show, both Jerry and his warm-up were hilarious. So leaving the show, I noticed my cell phone was missing; I came to the conclusion I left it at home and put it out of my mind. Sure enough I got home and my Mom was on the phone, someone had found my cell phone and used my contacts to call her (#8.5). So I drove my Mom to go meet with these good Samaritans and recover my cell phone. On the way back though, I got caught in another box situation; trying to merge onto the thru-way I had some bozo tail-gating me and a transport truck driving by with only a limited amount of room before I'd ram straight into a wall. Straight on was wall ram, right was wall ram, left was crushed by the back wheels of a transport truck, and stopping would get me rear-ended. Luckily, as you probably realized, I was able to slow down enough to merge safely without a scratch (#9.5 crazy moments today (or more)).

Well golly jeez, today was damn crazy; the craziest I've had in a very long time. I'm understandably exhausted so I'll end the blog here.
See ya next time.

Interesting day. Mine was fairly interesting too, by my standards; I completed a dungeon in Skyward Sword and I went to a movie. I have a sad life, don't I?

Really wish I could see Seinfeld someday. But god knows tickets would be pricey, and who knows when he'll ever come to my area. And lol at the snowmobile.
