A small look into the life of Ray.

I'll take it

Well, as per usual, its time for Tennis talk. The semi-finals are set and we got another 7/8 result. The 4 Top Men in the World and 3 of the Top 4 Women are in the semi-finals of the 2012 Australian Open. As the title states, I'll take it but it still "Feels Batman" that poor Caroline missed out on making it an 8/8. #11 Clijsters vs #3 Azarenka and #4 Sharapova vs #2 Kvitova; in all technicality its a great semi-final line-up, just hurts to see the #1 fall a couple points away from pushing Kim to 3 sets and likely winning the match. Its certainly a set-back for Caroline and she'll be losing her #1 rank because of it; until she improves her serve and transition game, she likely won't get it back. I sincerely hope she does make those improvements and takes that next step. With Caroline's defeat, all my support falls upon Victoria Azarenka to clobber Kim and find a way to win in the Final. Sharapova has looked consistently scary good but Kvitova will test her to her limits; I'm really not sure who will win, which makes it all the more exciting.
Now onto the Men's draw, #3 Federer vs #2 Nadal and #4 Murray vs #1 Djokovic. These 4 made 2 of the 4 Semi-finals last year, in fact, Federer missed 1 semi last year and Nadal missed 1 semi last year, that's it. 2012 has started off on the same note, the Big Four are still the Big Boys and it's gonna take a serious effort to trump any of them before a semi. Of course, anyone calling themselves a tennis fan has to be excited for tonight's match-up; featuring 2 of the sport's greatest players ever. And yes, even I have to admit Nadal is one of the sport's best, as much as it pains me. Of course, as a Fed fan, I expect him to win and improve their hard-court record against one another to 6 - 4. Their overall record is 17 - 9 for Nadal but that's skewed by 14 clay court matches, which Fed only won 2 of. Federer still has the 2 - 1 Grass record and 5 - 4 Hardcourt record, which is more than enough to prove his superiority but he needs to hold onto both of these advantages until he retires. If Federer were to win tonight, he'd be back in a Slam Final with a winning record against both Novak and Andy in Finals. Roger has a 2 - 0 over Andy and a 1 - 0 Novak in Slam Finals, plus it'll be Fed's first Final on a surface besides Clay since 2010; I expect he'll make the most of the opportunity and don't forget Federer hasn't lost a match since last year's US Open, he's on fire. Now the other Semi and rematch of last year's Final, Murray vs Djokovic, it's a complicated match and it really could go either way. Murray has the advantage in not being on-court as long as Djo nor does Murray have any questionable injuries; he's 100% fit and rested. Novak on the other hand had tough matches against Hewitt and Ferrer; plus it appeared like his leg was bothering him during the Ferrer match BUT Novak has continued to play scary good tennis and is confident in his game. If Murray can come out quick and start pushing Novak around from point 1, he has a chance of pulling off the upset but Andy is gonna need to play hard and do so consistently, ie: his best tennis possible. Djokovic is still the favourite in this match and in the tournament as a whole; we'll see how his game holds up against the Big Boys.
LM finally convinced one of his buddies to lend him a Wii; yep, it took LM a month to finally play Skyward Sword, which he got for Christmas. Prime "Feels Batman" material indeed. As such, I've had to keep my mouth shut on SS plot details for a month because LM doesn't want it spoiled. Jordzz showed up last night too and we started to discuss the game's brilliance before LM stopped us. Of course I can't blame him for his Wii going limp (
), but the game is just too good to bottle up. I'd talk with the GameFaqs people but a lot of them hate the game because they're complete idiots looking for attention, like most of the GameFaqs community. So I'm stuck, and too lazy to do anything about it; I'll just wait for LM to finish the game. Which technically, is a problem all to itself; the game is dang long, fun but long. Impatient people who hate anything even remotely side-questy rage a lot about it. I'm sorry but the game was advertised as 50-100 hours; what were you expecting, 50 dungeons? Back on topic, LM should be busy for quite some time playing the game, as expected, but this leaves me in the boredom zone. "Feels Batman" encore, not that LM is exceptionally interesting to begin with (
) but he's easily the person I talk to the most; he's my Wingman, my right-hand man and one of my closest friends. Maybe Jordzz will be around, hopefully G will continue his trend of showing up on weekends, maybe someone will surprise me. There's also something else going on this weekend that's a secret for the time being. But its at times like these that I wish I was had some kind of social life, it never seemed like a worthwhile pursuit beyond the odd friend or two in grade school but considering the amount of free time I have here at Uni, someone to talk to would be nice.
Well that's certainly enough feel bad for Ray ranting to last me the rest of the month. We all know I'll be watching the tennis fairly avidly anyway, which will require going to bed early so that I can get up at 5AM for 3-4 nights in a row. Not sure how I'll manage it quite yet but it'll be fun, surely. So what else is going on? Oh yeah, got slammed in Mammology. I stayed up all Monday night to see 4 great matches; doing an assignment for the class during. What I didn't know was that the teacher had decided to give us a quiz that morning too. It was straight memorization and I was actually looking forward to the test because memorizing crazy names is what I do. But the professor didn't mention it at all on Thursday nor at the lab on Friday, all previous mentions to it were "it'll be Tuesday or maybe Thursday" I wrongfully assumed it was going to be Thursday since he hadn't mentioned it in weeks and I was wrong. Shoulda looked it up or asked but that's what I get. I pretty much got blasted to oblivion; I took the free hour after class to memorize them anyway and within the hour I had most of the Orders solidified, coulda easily aced it if the professor had solidified the date since day 1. "Feels Batman"
Damnit, did it again. What is this? Depression the blog? I should probably end it here before I break down into tears.
See ya when the Finals are set.
