The Blog Rules.

By Pika, Miner, Empress, Enyo, Inviso, Sean, Johnny! and anyone else who posted in this thread with suggestions.
Misuse of the Blog Section.

Please note: The forum rules apply here too.

1) The Blog section follows all the same rules of the site. This especially includes spam. If you see spam, or a bot posting spam, please just use the Report feature. Do not post on the blog.
2) While you are free to post what you desire, as long as it follows the rules of the site, we recommend keeping blog posts such as "Here's my Friend Code, add me" and "Join my clan!" to their respective sections on the site. There will not be any action taken against these types of blogs, but you will have much better luck in the Friend Roster section and the Clan Zone section.
3) Please be respectful of others' blogs.
4) Try to make your blog understandable. This is certainly not an English class, but properly written blogs, like those with great spelling and grammar, just simply look better and cleaner. They also tend to be read more and receive good responses.
5) While there is no minimum requirement on a blog in terms of how much content you have, having at least 2 paragraphs would make for a good sized blog, and will likely generate more responses. The more you write, the more people can reply to (as long as it isn't a book!).

Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut DLC *Spoilers*

Posted 06-26-2012 at 03:58 PM by Pikadoodles

Mass Effect 3 was released in early April and it's ending shocked the world as it was widely hated and frowned upon. This ending was supposed to be the be-all-end-all to the Mass Effect 3 Trilogy. Was it hell. What was supposed to be amazing turned to dirt pretty quick. Here's the original ending.

The ending starts with Shepard lying face down in the dirt before the teleporter. He gets up with a gun that has infinite bullets and slowly makes his way to the teleporter. Three husks run at you from the right, time slows down as you are given time to shoot them down. Then Marauder Shields shows his beautiful face. You kill him then teleport to the Citadel. (RIP sweet prince...)

Inside the Citadel, you are led to a new area that's never seen before in-game. It's covered in dead bodies and the floors and ceilings are covered in blood. Anderson contacts you and asks if you're alright. You continue on a path laid out for you and at the end, a final confrontation with The Illusive Man. Depending on your moral compass, the final confrontation ends with him shooting himself, paragon action to shoot him to save Anderson or a renegade action to just kill him on the spot.

Long story short, the Citadel properly opens and the catalyst is connected. Anderson says he's proud of Shepard and then he dies. Shepard gets a transmission from Hackett and is told nothing's happening. Shepard collapses trying to reach the control panel. A panel opens up where Shepard is lying and is taken upward towards the upper level. There, he is greeted with a mysterious child AI. This child TELLS him (no interaction whatsoever) that he created the Reapers and uses them to destroy advanced civilizations so the Synthetics don't rise up and destroy the Organics. (Think Terminator) Shepard is told that he can either Destroy, Control or Synthesize with the Citadel. I chose Synthesize. The game starts it's final cutscenes. No matter what you chose, it was the same with very few differences.

Shown here:

After that's all done you get a message saying "gg for beating da game lol cya"

Now I'll explain the new DLC that extends the ending.

It's all the same right up until the child. You get a new cutscene where the child explains EVERYTHING (no spoilers go do it yourself. It's free). you get lots of choices and it changes the ending depending on what you choose.

A new cutscene is shown. It shows how all your allies and friends got on in their fight. It mainly shows them celebrating and hugging each other, knowing that their fight has paid off. Everyone is celebrating and then it shows you your team members. Each person and their race is shown happy and celebrating. It then cuts to those team mates that didn't make it/sacrificed themselves.

Hackett then tells you about everyone that sacrificed themselves for the good of mankind. We destroyed the reapers (my ending) and all synthetics. It will take a while to rebuild. At the end, Shepard is shown lying in a heap.....he gasps for breath. END?

You get a new message saying.

"Thank you for your support over the years. The trilogy started as something small. That growth has been fueled and shaped by the feedback and support of our player community. Thank you for joining us on this journey, and we look forward to sharing further adventures with you in the Mass Effect universe" - The Mass Effect Team.

Obviously there's going to be a Mass Effect 4.

Thoughts? I think they did it right this time.
