In which the story has been told repeatedly

My Wii broke. Well, not exactly. The other day I wanted to play some MKW (*shudder*) with Ray, so I popped it in and booted up the Wii, only for it to tell me it can't read the disc. I tried again, blew off the dust, made sure I wasn't putting it in backwards--same thing. Then I tried putting in Super Mario Galaxy 2, and it couldn't read that either. I looked it up online, and it turns out my disc-thingy is having problems because I never take the game out after I'm done playing it, and the only way to fix it is take the Wii apart and bend up a clip so it'll stop rubbing the disc. I attempted to start the process of dismantling my Wii, but chickened out because I was scared I'd break it. Also, I didn't have any of the necessary tools to take out Nintendo's tiny screws, which are amusingly hidden underneath little stickers on the console. I decided I'll just give it to my techie friend when I get the chance, and hopefully he'll take care of it before Christmas so I won't have any problems playing Skyward Sword.

Speaking of Skyward Sword, it predictably lost out on GotY to Skyrim, which is disappointing but expected. Despite extremely favorable reviews right after launch, its reception went down a little over time, while nobody seems to shut up about Skyrim. I even would've been happy to see Arkham City win, but no, now I have to put up with even MORE Skyrim discussion. It was bad enough before it got released. Anyway, SS did end up winning something, the Best Motion Game award. Oh, and it also won Best Wii Game, but that's pretty obvious. I was also happy to see Minecraft win Best Indie Game, which was also fairly predictable. It was in the running for Best PC game, too, but that went to Portal 2, which I can't argue with.

Some might remember an older blog where I ranted about the new Spiderman movie coming out. Well, now it has an official poster. Of course, the main point of amusement here (aside from what I consider to be a pretty lame poster) is that Spidey's story is far from "untold," though as many people have already pointed out, it could be referring to the subplot about Pete's parents hinted at in the trailer. Either way, this movie ain't looking any better to me. On the bright side of upcoming superhero movies, TDKR continues to look fantastic as does its new poster. This hints pretty heavily at the death of Batman, which imo might be the gutsy move this film needs to surpass TDK.

Oh yeah, and Christmas. Probably not going to get Mario Kart 7, though I really want to. If all else fails, I'll go out and buy it myself. I haven't gotten much shopping done though, nor do we have a tree yet. We did make Christmas cookies yesterday though, and we have some lame lights on the house. Unfortunately, my Christmas tradition of playing through Twilight Princess over winter break (which I have, admittedly, only half-assedly adhered to in previous years) is hindered this year because my disc doesn't work anymore. Well, if my Wii doesn't get fixed then that wouldn't matter anyway, but it's still a damn shame. Skyward Sword will have to replace it (providing the Wii DOES get fixed). Anyway, that's all for now.
