The Blog About Absolutely Nothing That Not a One Person Would Read
Catchy title, no? I only did that to hook you into reading.
Anyways. It's been a very while since a Dudley-Style blog has been published, so why not now, at 12:30 AM?
Things have been alright, I suppose, since I got back from music camp. It's been nice being back on the forums, nice seeing my friends again at a party I hosted, nice being around my relatives. Honestly, I can't stand my parents sometimes though. They live too structured a life and I absolutely LOATHE it. But, I shouldn't be complaining. God's been good to me with all of my musical happenings, so I honestly shouldn't be talking badly about 'ole mom and dad since they pay for this stuff in the musical side of my life.
Basically, I have been unofficially accepted to Hartt School in Connecticut to study viola with one of the teachers there, which I honestly don't know what to think! I'm really happy about having a sure-ride into a good University music program, so it's something to be inspired by and continue the upward climb to musical achievements. The guy who wants me in is this teacher whom I've met and become great friends and contacts with up at this festival I have continually attended for a month the past 3 years, making it quite wonderful. I'm not exactly sure if I want to study with him, but I'm going to keep all of my options open OF COURSE over the next few years, and I'd just thought I'd share that bit of news to the blogging community on the MKW Forums. :)
I am honestly not sure where to go from here music-wise. I have repertoire to learn, but most importantly, I have to work on fixing my bowing arm. There are many problems with how I'm playing the instrument in which inhibit my tone production, and I had a phenomenal lesson with one of the Richmond Symphony Orchestra members entirely on the bow arm up at my camp, and it honestly was one of the most changing in my playing ever. He gave me 5 simple steps on how to make the perfect tone, and I've already incorporated 1-2 of them in my playing, and it honestly sounds a WHOLE lot better than it ever did before. I have to apparently teach MY TEACHER for my next lesson what this guy from the Richmond Symphony taught me, so that's going to be slightly scary. I have to come up with 3 exercises for each step, which is going to be impossible, but I'm going to try sometime in the near future. My teacher requested this the day of my lesson after I had it, therefore making me intimidated in the moment, but it passed after awhile. (Maybe he'll forget since it'll be a month since I've seen him when my next lesson comes around!)
Other things have come around in my life I could go on talking about, but who really wants to read boring life stories anyways? PAH!
Have a good night's rest, everyone.

Hi Dudley! Well I hardly ever respond to these kind of things on here but you're right, saw blog and title on the main page and here I am!
Anyway, you sound very mature for your age and very accomplished! I'm actually quite impressed and proud of you for getting into Hartt School. You're on a great path, esp since you love music so much, so I would say just take everything as it comes and enjoy the ride!

College thankfully is still 2 years away, so I still have a lot of time before having to get ready for those nerve-wracking auditions. Thanks for taking some time to read this blog :)
