I think someone made himself invincible too (or at least unlimited blockers). It was the guy in first and I shot repeated red shells at him over and over and I was so lucky by keep getting 3 red shells (Or occasionally green shells that I hit him with) and I saw all of them smashing into him and he kept driving.
