Mario Kart Wii Clans: A guide to a happy and successful clan - written by Violet.

I wish to make a Clan! What do I do?
Believe it or not, there are no restrictions to making a clan. You could literally make a clan in 5 minutes and it would be legitimate. However, would somebody want to join a clan that was made in 5 minutes? Here are some guidelines as to how to make a successful, and happy, clan.

Deciding if you're right to be a leader
You may have an awesome clan name, and ideas as to how you want your clan to work, but do you feel like you would be a capable leader? A leader requires many characteristics such as: Organization, A balanced control of power over other people, dedication to the clan, and activeness online. If you lack some of these characteristics then you may not be fit to be a leader. Examples of great clan leaders are:

Bash - Leader of Revolution
Peri - Leader of Mario Kart Racers
Legendary Luigi - Leader of Asphalt Warriors

I have chosen these examples as the way in which a member can be a great leader, yet decide to control their clans in different ways.

Alternatively, if you don't feel comfortable with having all the power, you may decide to make good use of co-leaders or to spread powers equally amongst your clan. If you designate co-leaders then their role depends on what you want them to do: EG setting up clan wars or events, looking after new members etc.

Example of co-leaders / spread of powers: White Winged Atrocity

Prettying up your clan - Clan names and graphics
People are more attracted to a clan that looks pretty than a clan that doesn't. Think of a clan name that's original yet conveys a powerful meaning. Shorter Clan names such as Unity, Star Dashers, Evul etc tend to work more than overly long names.

As well as clan names, the look of your clan is important as well. Say if your clan name is Dark Stallions, then create graphics that represent this name: EG black colour theme, perhaps a horse as your logo. The more graphics you have that look nice, the more people your are bound to attract.

If you don't know what graphics are, or can't make graphics, then there are many opportunities to ask for graphics in this very forum: Refer to graphics shop

Organizing your Clan Thread
You may need more than one post to put all of the information that you need people to know.

Want to show how your clan deals with events, membership, etc? You'll need more posts to organize your information. Look around the forum to see how each clan organizes their thread to get some ideas.

Conclusions
These are some basic ideas that will help you set up your clan to be open to the public. Give your clan some time - members tend to come in droves once they are secure whether they would fit in this clan or not. Advertise your clan, be patient, and be willing to make some sacrifices in order to get a happy and successful clan. Your attitude to clans will determine who and how the clan survives.
